  1. Makes you wonder if Penske and Foyt cars weren’t running 2nd and 3rd do they throw that last red flag?
  2. Ron, if they didn’t have this playoff system a reasonable driver would have been racing to finish the race first and have a good points day. So yes, it has completely changed how people drive. But I am not so much worried about drivers hurting each other, they have enough to worry about with this new car doing it to them on its own. It’s not a safe race car. They have went backwards in that department when they made this switch. This car isn’t safe.
  3. I suspect it is going to take a little time to grow the class, and the legends as well. But the 2 bootlegger cars that did show up and race did it door to door for the first 15 laps. Hopefully with Mr. Owen in charge, he can provide the consistency that the place needs in order for racers to invest money into something that they will have a place to race it at. That's the biggest issue I see. The shocker of the night was the truck race, they tore up very little. That's out of character for them. The 96 was fast for sure.
  4. Thanks for the clarification, I stayed and watched the big white Pete set it on that trailer. It was a violent hit, sounded like a bomb went off. Hope he is ok, and hope the car isn't totaled.
  5. Pretty violent wreck with one of the legends cars into turn 1. After the races were over they picked up the car with a wrecker boom, then they backed a utility trailer under it and set it back down. Pretty sure it went home on a different trailer than it showed up on. I know that guy is still sore.
  6. They were at Cotton Bowl Arob. Maupin won on a late race pass with one to go. Then there was a big wreck coming out of 2 on the last lap. They called the race then. Haugh in the 12 took a lot of damage on that wreck. He spun early and raced back to 3rd with a full field of cars, it was impressive. He used to race trucks at HMP and was really good there also.
  7. Cotton Bowl Speedway is alive and well. The weather stayed away, pretty decent crowd. And quite a few cars. https://www.cottonbowlspeedway.com/schedules/event/444798
  8. I sure hear you on this deal. My cable bill at my lake house at Canyon lake is 190 a month. No internet. I have a guy coming out of San Antonio coming out this week to see if we can find a spot to mount a dish to a post and get a signal. Lot of trees around my house, we’ll see.
  9. Nick I don’t understand it either. It for sure is a missed opportunity. Owen was in the infield doing the post race interviews with the race winners. And he was introduced by the race announcer as being the race promoter. Maybe things will get better.
  10. I didn’t write down any of the winners. Couple of classes only had 2 or 3 cars in the feature. Eco’s and the legacy’s had pretty good car count and races. The trucks did what they normally do out there. I know Robert Barker did win the outlaw race. And I think it was a Barker that won the modified race also.

Where did ya’ll find the info on Owen?
  12. Texas used to put a lot of people in the stands in the early days. They had to have made some money back then.
  13. I didn’t really know if it was correct or not either, but I did listen to the deal that Josh mentioned from Denny. And those are the tracks he mentioned today. I also thought I heard Denny mention that NASCAR just sold 80% of the Fontana complex land for something slightly north of 500 million. But I would have to go back and listen again for the exact number. He did mention in the podcast that if they were to build a half mile track that he thought there was possibly a deal in place to lease back some of the ground they just sold to use for parking to hold an event. I guess time will tell. I think I saw something online today that there will be some sort of announce on California during the Phoenix weekend in a couple of weeks. Reports are that they bought all 5 of those tracks from Penske for 600 million.
  14. Nazareth, Rockingham, Fontana, Michigan, and Homestead.
  15. I saw him win in a modified last year at HMP, then got DQ’ed on a ride height issue.
  16. He sure was Nick, they did all the work on that car at their house here in the neighborhood. When he went to go run at 5 flags I never saw a late model there much. They must had had a shop over there somewhere.
  17. Young kid, out of Cypress, TX., came up racing at HMP. Bandolero’s then dwarf cars. He has ran in different classes at HMP for various car owners. Then he went to race at 5 flags in a pro late model. Did very well over there, and has also done a little super late racing. And I believe he is also one of the top iracers in the country. I don’t pay much attention to the iracing stuff, but the kid can wheel a race car.
  18. The kid can wheel a race car. Just wish he could get an opportunity to move up.
  19. Heard he had a 3 second lead.
  20. I think he did a fair amount of that iracing stuff as well. Not real sure how successful he was at it because it’s something I really have no interest in. I think when he was running the full seasons over at 5flags the car may have stayed in Florida, or perhaps some other shop. Once in awhile you would see a late model back there in the driveway being tuned on but not too much. But all of his bandolero days his dad did all the wrenching at the house.
