  1. And that was the case this weekend as well Arob. But I will give them credit in the fact that they hold off as long as they can before they go to a single file restart. And they also don’t cut laps. The last race I went to cottonbowl, they were quick to go to a single file restart and they also cut laps on a couple of classes. I’m not a fan of cutting laps.
  2. If I heard the track announcer correctly last night, that race the 19th has over 20k in the purse for the limited class alone. It will pay good money just to make the A Main. If I am in town I am going to go back for it. I suspect they will draw a nice showing of limited mods for sure. The last time I was out there was for the Texas Grand a couple years ago, and it draws a pretty good crowd. But I was surprised by the crowd size last night, it was hot, and a big turnout.
  3. Made a trip out to 105 Speedway last night. Been a couple years since I had been out there. It’s alive and well, fun night.

When I go to an auction, I walk away if I think something is way over priced and it is not that big on my priority list. Also when I go to an auction, if there is something I want, I can promise you I take it home with me, no matter what it is worth. All in the eye of the beholder I guess. If FOX or NBC really wanted that series, I'm pretty confidant it doesn't end up in CW's hands.

Maybe they ended up with it because nobody else wanted it?
  6. Thanks for the info. So they are taking donations for a memorial race for them?
  7. Hey top can you help out with some more of the back story on this.
  8. That’s a great idea, catch both tracks the same weekend. Because I have not been to HOT as well. Need to jump in the motorhome and go to both tracks. You always have to wonder how long the tracks that are either in town or very close to town can hang on. I don’t think Knoxville has any thing to worry about, but some of the others probably don’t receive that kind of support from the community.
  9. I need to get up to that place.
  10. Thanks top shelf, it’s a mess, but at least I don’t have to move out, many others were not as fortunate. I had every intention of going to the races but was managing freezers and refrigerators through the motorhome generator. I was able to make the previous race, and I am truly excited about the current direction. I just hope that Mr. Owen hangs with it and produces the results as he has at his other venues. HMP is still a very nice facility.
  11. That’s great news and good to hear. Took a hit from a tornado on Thursday so wasn’t able to make it tonight. The place has always had an upside that just needs to be tapped properly.

  13. If they didn’t want a repeat winner under the yellow flag then It may be a conspiracy. that’s not how you decide races.
  14. Yes, they wasted 2-3 laps before they thru the previous red flags as well. I’m not sure how there rules read as far as how they are required to finish a race, but it was an odd ending for sure. There was no bigger example of the Thrill of Victory, and The Agony of Defeat in that finish.
  15. Makes you wonder if Penske and Foyt cars weren’t running 2nd and 3rd do they throw that last red flag?
  16. Ron, if they didn’t have this playoff system a reasonable driver would have been racing to finish the race first and have a good points day. So yes, it has completely changed how people drive. But I am not so much worried about drivers hurting each other, they have enough to worry about with this new car doing it to them on its own. It’s not a safe race car. They have went backwards in that department when they made this switch. This car isn’t safe.
  17. I suspect it is going to take a little time to grow the class, and the legends as well. But the 2 bootlegger cars that did show up and race did it door to door for the first 15 laps. Hopefully with Mr. Owen in charge, he can provide the consistency that the place needs in order for racers to invest money into something that they will have a place to race it at. That's the biggest issue I see. The shocker of the night was the truck race, they tore up very little. That's out of character for them. The 96 was fast for sure.
  18. Thanks for the clarification, I stayed and watched the big white Pete set it on that trailer. It was a violent hit, sounded like a bomb went off. Hope he is ok, and hope the car isn't totaled.
  19. Pretty violent wreck with one of the legends cars into turn 1. After the races were over they picked up the car with a wrecker boom, then they backed a utility trailer under it and set it back down. Pretty sure it went home on a different trailer than it showed up on. I know that guy is still sore.
  20. They were at Cotton Bowl Arob. Maupin won on a late race pass with one to go. Then there was a big wreck coming out of 2 on the last lap. They called the race then. Haugh in the 12 took a lot of damage on that wreck. He spun early and raced back to 3rd with a full field of cars, it was impressive. He used to race trucks at HMP and was really good there also.
