  1. Cotton Bowl Speedway is alive and well. The weather stayed away, pretty decent crowd. And quite a few cars. https://www.cottonbowlspeedway.com/schedules/event/444798
  2. I sure hear you on this deal. My cable bill at my lake house at Canyon lake is 190 a month. No internet. I have a guy coming out of San Antonio coming out this week to see if we can find a spot to mount a dish to a post and get a signal. Lot of trees around my house, we’ll see.
  3. Nick I don’t understand it either. It for sure is a missed opportunity. Owen was in the infield doing the post race interviews with the race winners. And he was introduced by the race announcer as being the race promoter. Maybe things will get better.
  4. I didn’t write down any of the winners. Couple of classes only had 2 or 3 cars in the feature. Eco’s and the legacy’s had pretty good car count and races. The trucks did what they normally do out there. I know Robert Barker did win the outlaw race. And I think it was a Barker that won the modified race also.

Where did ya’ll find the info on Owen?
  6. Texas used to put a lot of people in the stands in the early days. They had to have made some money back then.
  7. I didn’t really know if it was correct or not either, but I did listen to the deal that Josh mentioned from Denny. And those are the tracks he mentioned today. I also thought I heard Denny mention that NASCAR just sold 80% of the Fontana complex land for something slightly north of 500 million. But I would have to go back and listen again for the exact number. He did mention in the podcast that if they were to build a half mile track that he thought there was possibly a deal in place to lease back some of the ground they just sold to use for parking to hold an event. I guess time will tell. I think I saw something online today that there will be some sort of announce on California during the Phoenix weekend in a couple of weeks. Reports are that they bought all 5 of those tracks from Penske for 600 million.
  8. Nazareth, Rockingham, Fontana, Michigan, and Homestead.
  9. I saw him win in a modified last year at HMP, then got DQ’ed on a ride height issue.
  10. He sure was Nick, they did all the work on that car at their house here in the neighborhood. When he went to go run at 5 flags I never saw a late model there much. They must had had a shop over there somewhere.
  11. Young kid, out of Cypress, TX., came up racing at HMP. Bandolero’s then dwarf cars. He has ran in different classes at HMP for various car owners. Then he went to race at 5 flags in a pro late model. Did very well over there, and has also done a little super late racing. And I believe he is also one of the top iracers in the country. I don’t pay much attention to the iracing stuff, but the kid can wheel a race car.
  12. The kid can wheel a race car. Just wish he could get an opportunity to move up.
  13. Heard he had a 3 second lead.
  14. I think he did a fair amount of that iracing stuff as well. Not real sure how successful he was at it because it’s something I really have no interest in. I think when he was running the full seasons over at 5flags the car may have stayed in Florida, or perhaps some other shop. Once in awhile you would see a late model back there in the driveway being tuned on but not too much. But all of his bandolero days his dad did all the wrenching at the house.
  15. Mr. Ron, I really don’t know him personally, I have talked to his dad some back in the neighborhood. But the kid can wheel a race car. He has been fun to watch over the years. The last time I saw him race was out at HMP last season in a modified. He had the field covered and won. Got DQ’ed on a ride height issue I believe.
  16. One of his old sponsors from his HMP days just sent me these 2 deals. https://m.facebook.com/JudsonO/videos/flyin-ryan-luza-racing-wins-his-first-world-series-of-asphalt-race-tonight-at-ne/718158026511852/ IMG_9927.MOV
  17. That’s excellent news, once again thanks for the update.
  18. He’s pretty good for sure. Lives in the same neighborhood here in Cypress.
  19. Rodney, TMS/SMI fails at the basics. As far as the racing goes NASCAR runs that show, the 1.5 mile track is what it is. But if you know it is going to be a 100 out for the entirety of your event week and weekend, they should have enough sense to park some 18 wheeler trailers full of ice on the grounds. There wasn’t a bag of ice to be found on the grounds, which in turn had the buccee’s sold out as well. I also saw not 1 RV sewer pump out truck the whole weekend. They have been putting on races there since 1997. And they still fail at the basics. I don’t consider my race weekend package to be all that much money. I think it is about 700.00 for a camping spot and a tow vehicle and 2 grandstand tickets for each race. And there are a few things they do well at, for instance, they have one of the best tram systems in all of nascar. When they put that long bar in they also took out every other row of seats in the lower grandstand. Which caused half the ticket holders to get moved, and the moves were not for the better. And even after doing that I could still swing a cat by its tail and not hit a soul. I just wish they took better care of the basics as they should. But I will most likely keep supporting the place in the fall, as long as I’m able, or until it goes away.
  20. The last sentence in this post is truly baffling.
