  1. Or perhaps Vegas was riding the coat tails of Daytona and all the coverage it got.
  2. As of tonight weather at both will be low 50's and dry.
  3. Only one more week to go!!! Can't believe I put Sept. instead of Feb. Well , maybe I can! Anyway the time is getting closer and the extended forecast looks good , be a little nippy in Pleasanton. So FEB 28 at I-37 and FEB 29 at South Texas Speedway. Can't wait.
  4. Major cranial flatulence there! Sucks getting old!

HiTech , I guess even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. I want NASCAR to succeed because when it is good it's really good. And when it is boring it is really boring. Up until last year boring was winning for several years. I like the stage point system. That and Brian France being out of the picture sure helped. I still don't like the Chase system.

Brian France being out is a HUGE factor. Now for a reality check. Daytona and Talladega are an easy sell. You get close racing throughout which real race fans like and guaranteed crashing which others like. Let's see if the other tracks can push that momentum on or they put on the boring 7+ second separations between places like before. To sustain you gotta have close racing. We shall see.
  7. Well now that the news with Ryan Newman is looking better it is time for South Texas race fans to get excited. Just over a week away the USMTS Modified tour gets things started Friday Feb28 at I-37 Speedway in Pleasanton. With $3000 to win Mods $750 to win Sportmods and $500 to win Factory Stock the car count should be great! Get there early and get your seat. If that wasn't enough the next day Feb 29 the tour goes to the fast South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi. This track allows these USMTS cars show how fast they can get which is FAST! $3000 to win Mods and $500 each for Sportmod and Factory Stock. Then on March 1 the tour goes to Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige Texas. Cotton Bowl also has the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars I think March 13. Texana Raceway Park opens March 28 with many special shows throughout the year. With Owen Pittman running the show it will be a fun place for fans and racers alike. Please check out the racetracks' Facebook or Websites for additional information. Sooo South Texas racefans 2019 we saw a lot of great racing and 2020 looks to be just as exciting or even better. For those who are not familiar with USMTS these are not like the Mods we see on a regular basis. These cars run into 6 digits$$$ and you see what the best in everything does for speed and excitement. So check out the tracks schedules and start marking your calendars as there will be great racing among Texana in Edna , I-37 , South Texas Speedway and Cotton Bowl Speedway if you don't mind the extra travel every week during Spring , Summer and early Fall. Be there!!!!

Here is something for Toyotatim. TV ratings were up about 32% prerace and 19% for the first twenty laps. Hadn't seen an overall yet. In fact all of Speedweeks had a double digit increase except the Twins which were down.

The Newman crash reminded me of that Bodine crash. I remember seeing an hospital interview with Bodine and they asked him what he remembered. He said he remembered seeing his Dad who had passed away telling him it wasn't his time yet. I'll never forget that. Starts at 5:50 mark...….
  10. USA Today reports he is in serious condition but injuries do not seem life threatening. Thank God. Continued prayers he heals quickly and fully.
  11. Orlando Sentinel reported they removed all press from the area as well. Prayers for Lajoie as well.Nothing he could do,
  12. I think prayers are needed. I didn't know he got hit drivers side upside down.God be with him.
  13. After watching some YouTube of New Smyrna I can see why. Pro Lates were going three wide pretty often on a very fast track. Add to that a fair amount of carnage and anger it is all there. There is one video from last year of a truck race where a guy got stuffed into the back wall. Needless to say he was quite upset and had to be restrained. Then he runs into the pits walks up to the other guys pit(no one there) and turns the pit wagon on its side by himself. Impressive! Last clip shows him talking to 2 cops! Just watched last nights Pro-Late . All I'll say it took them 45 minutes to run 35 laps! Kinda like the Florida version of Bowman-Grey!
  14. No doubt that Rick Rapp could do more with less than anyone I can think of. From the Mickey Mouse car all the way to the TIDA/ROMCO Late Model.
  15. And she is only 22! Seems like she is being brought along stage by stage and not rushed into it.
  16. As per Facebook USMTS is on for the 28th and the $1000 to win Mod show scheduled for the 29th has been moved to March 7. Also the 28th practice is moved to 1-18.
  17. Looks like another fun season at I-37. Is sad to see Street Stock class fading away.
  18. Personally I don't care what NASCAR does. Just keep the great dirt tracks open and I am happy.
  19. Just curious, other than I-37 where is the nearest USRA sanctioned track? The great thing about this schedule there are only two same night dates , 5/16 and 6/27 for I-37 and STS. That is a good thing for those who want to run for national points and for the two tracks. The real winners could be the fans!

But they may not be able to run at another USRA sanctioned track if they follow the rule book to the letter , correct?
  21. Awesome! It had to sell because of all the improvements that were done. First thing to do is keep that burger!
