  1. This has nothing to do with Bristol but I found it kinda surprising https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nascar-auto-racing/article242915946.html
  2. Where can I find the results from CBS?
  3. Helluva car count for Texana!!
  4. Very entertaining night and great car counts in the top classes. If memory serves me correct 34 Factory Stocks, 28 Sportmods and 15 E-Mods along with the other classes put on a very good show. 2020 looks to be awesome for South Texas race fans. Be sure and go to the track near you and those only 100-125 miles from Corpus when your home track isn't racing.
  5. All oval racing should be under the lights as much as possible. It seems the racing is more entertaining. Even on local tracks it just is better once the sun goes down.
  6. I'm happy for NASCAR and hope for their continued success but I found the racing at I-37 more entertaining.
  7. IMCA rules . I think the top 4 have to go to start line a certain amount of time to check front brakes work. The 12 and 5 went directly into pits.
  8. Was a crazy night but lot of fun to watch. Sportmod last five laps was outstanding. Tip of the hat to Rye for winning and to Torres ,Rye and especially Whiteaker for racing each other hard and clean. Tuners had an exciting finish as well. Too bad for all the DQ's to 2nd and 3rd in Factory Stock . I wonder what for. A BIG tip of the hat to the track crew for getting the facilities race ready. Most would had canceled after seeing what they saw Saturday morning. Great job guys!
  9. Saw that I-37 is racing May 9 and STS on May 23 with fans. Not sure about I-37 for me. Be kinda hard to maintain 6ft distance there plus I'd hate to drive up there and can't get in. So who will be going?
  10. The biggest problem I see , as only a fan, in the constant rule changing and not seeing what is working elsewhere. When the Street Stock Shootout was going you had rules that made for competitive racing. And good car counts. I'm not 100% sure about what killed it so I will keep my opinion to myself. I-37 had large fields until it suddenly died on the vine. I think Texana has the best Street Stock rules it seems. That class has always been strong there and has been for years. Meanwhile Sportmods and Factory Stocks keep growing and growing. Really the Factory Stocks of today are closer to Super Stocks back in the heyday. At the end of the day the only thing that will help rules wise is sanctions. Rather it be IMCA or USRA. That way the track doesn't have to deal with rulemaking. I agree with STS and I-37 going with USRA , I-37 and Texana going with IMCA for Mods. But I'm just a fan. What do I know.
  11. Since those tested positive in Nueces county almost all of them brought it from where they were traveling from. I don't think it is a good idea especially since San Antonio is one of the four hot spots for the virus.
  12. The opening of the South Texas season is over and a tip of the hat to I-37 and South Texas Speedway for the job they did. USMTS delivered both nights proving they are the best Modified racers. But I gotta say I was impressed with the local racers in both classes who put on an equally exciting show.25 or so USRA Factory Stocks and 30 or o USRA Sportmods showed at both I-37 and South Texas Speedway and did great. The drive of the night belonged to Riley Heil and she was doing good at STS until running into trouble. In Sportmods Jared Maupin had back to back 2nd place finishes racing hard and clean both nights. A tip of the hat to Ryan Doyon for making the USMTS show both nights. 2020 is off to a great start and looks to be an exciting season. ( Didn't go to Cotton Bowl and don't know how it went. Hopefully it was a good as the two down here)

  14. FINALLY the time is almost here for the South Texas racing season is here! USMTS Modifieds , Sportmods and Factory Stocks at I-37 Speedway Friday night and South Texas Speedway Sat. night before moving up to Cotton Bowl Speedway Sun night. And now for some bonus news. Pleasanton race time weather about 65* to 50* with a 3 MPH breeze! Corpus Christi race time weather about 71* to 60* with 20 MPH breeze. (Race time being 7pm to11pm ). And the best part 0% rain! So no excuses we need to pack the stands for these events to kick off the 2020 season strong!
  15. MAV-TV has a show All North Racing currently at Ohsweken Speedway in Canada . Looks to be a 3/8 to1/2 mile dirt track and the racing is great. They show features of Mini Stock, Thunder Stock( a cross of Factory and Street Stock) crate sprints and 360 sprints. Features have 24-30 cars each class! Reminds me of the old Thursday Night Thunder series.
  16. There is a sure fire way to keep it exciting every race. Debris cautions with 10-20 laps to go!
