  4. Well hell. Tough to operate a race track and sustain the business.
  5. Yessir, hadn't been in a full size car since 2013, and never on dirt. (other than spinning out lol)
  6. RECAP! From Race On Texas: EDNA, Texas (July 30, 2022) — Short track veteran Mickey Helms, open-wheel master Joe Pontin Jr. and asphalt/dirt oval sensation Memphis Villarreal all won features in their respective divisions, as officials presented a full card of racing with high-dollar purses on Saturday at Texana Raceway Park. Helms earned $1,200 with his victory in the Pure Stock A Main; Pontin bagged $1,000 in a talent-filled Limited Sport Mod feature, while Villarreal took home $1,200 for his efforts in Factory Stock. Ryan Slott (IMCA Modified) and Cooper Koliba (EMods) were also feature winners on a special night of big-paying features for three of the five divisions in action. Along with the special bonus purse money, the night featured a guest racer in the form of well known radio show host Rodney Rodriguez, who quietly earned a top-10 finish in Pure Stock in his first time back in a stock car since 2013. Helms, of Victoria, prevailed in a hotly-contested battle that could have easily produced a different outcome. South Texas strongman GW Hessong crossed the stripe in second, while Jamie Dear filled out the podium. Kenny Jessup (Trinity) and Jerry Walters (Corpus Christi) completed the top five. “That was fun,” Helms told announcer Bobby Chaffee. “I need to thank Tony (Blankenship) and GW (Hessong) for setting this old car up for me. I'll also thank Owen (Pittman) and Cord (Beard) for making this place so nice. These old Novas are a little different, but they sure are fun to drive.” Finishing sixth through 10th in the Pure Stock A Main were Mike Copeland, Grant Whitney Jr., Steven Whiteaker III, Rodriguez and Wesley Mauer. Copeland (started 20th) and Whitney (started 19th) were the biggest movers, passing cars like they were standing still all race long. The Pure Stock division continues to offer more fun and bang for the buck than many other classes. At Texana Raceway, it's loaded with racers eager to learn, have fun and be competitive at the same time. Pontin Jr., of Hockley, drove to the inside of early leader Jamie Campbell to take command of his feature at lap seven and hung on for top honors. Marcus Mikulencak was rock-solid all night to claim second, while Bryce Reed crossed the stripe in third. Jared Maupin put in another solid effort to finish fourth, while Jason Downey rounded out the top five. “It was no normal drive, the track had a lot of character,” Pontin said. “It was technical and a little tricky; I can imagine the guys out back found it tough to pass. We tried a little something different here tonight, and it worked out for us. I'm glad I could get it done.” Finishing sixth through 10th in the Limited Sport Mod A Main were GW Hessong, Bubba Gates, cagey veteran Howard Willis, Jarrett Barber and Benjamin Mikulencak. Three cautions slowed the pace (laps 4, 7, 10), all for minor incidents. Pontin's margin of victory was a scant .495 seconds over Mikulencak. Villarreal, of Corpus Christi, took the lead for the second and final time from Johnny Westfall at lap eight and pulled away to earn top honors. Maupin, always doing double-duty (at least, sometimes he drives three cars on the same night), drove up from 14th to finish second, while Westfall was third. Mason Castoneda and Jacob Burnett finished fourth and fifth, respectively. “It was a fun race, we were just biding our time there in the beginning,” a calm, appreciative and well-spoken Villarreal said. “That was a tough one; these guys that run dirt every week are probably pissed right now. It was awesome to be back in a dirt car, we've been busy with the asphalt program. “I treat every car the same, I race to win, not matter the surface. I appreciate everybody who helps out.” Finishing sixth through 10th in the SAMES Ford Factory Stock A Main were Cord Beard, Terry Hopson, Jayden Pina, Makayla Trimble and Jett Johnson. Six cautions slowed the pace, the first when Monty Chamberlain spun on lap one and the sixth for Will Spears' trouble with five laps remaining. Villarreal's margin of victory over Maupin was a sizable 1.010 seconds, as he was about to check out. Owen Pittman and his fine staff at Texana pulled off another strong weekly show, knocking out 11 heats and five features in a little over three and a half hours. With 77 entries spread across five classes, on-track action kept the fans entertained in fine style. 7. Well to tech's credit it was under that wrap they don't pull those off prior. Added to this NASCAR took a random car the 34 of McDowell and gave them an L2 penalty for modifying a part. 100 owner, 100 driver points $100K fine and they threw my man the crew chief Blake Harris out 4 weeks.
  8. This weekend is going to be huge at TRP. Take a look at the payouts! Not only that, I am racing after a 5 year break. 9 years out of big cars we want to pack the place! Take a look at who are coming out to race and teach me what the hell to do. A huge thanks to Tony Blankenship, Monty Chamberlain, Cord Beard, GW Hessong, Owen Pittman and all the folks that put this cool deal together, that's my TRP fam right there. Come see us!
  9. Alverson will be on Revved tonite in the 7pm hour, prior to that Owen will be on with Texana news. Check in click LIVECAST here if you are not a FB'er. https://revvedupsportsshow.com/
  10. I'll just add to this if you are going to fill out this survey please be honest on whatever they are asking. Under sell and OVER DELIVER. I have been a part of so many of these regimes and everyone is ready and them never follows though. Let these folks know what you are truly willing to do and please expect to be called upon to help them. If you aren't a driver or team owner and don't plan to be don't blow smoke up their skirts and make them believe you will be. #OneTeamOneFight
  11. I've been telling anyone who will listen for the last 3 years there is a certain stock class on dirt running asphalt pull offs. There are hundreds of these cars everywhere and I know these boys and girls will go play on pavement.
  12. LOLOLOLOL!!!! Well good point I have talked to some unnamed sources. I have advised they need to posting their news here.
  13. Hey y'all I know about as much as you guys on this one. It does appear to be a done deal I look forward to 7/25 to hear some details. Glad something is in the works!
  14. Jr. is the modern day face and voice of NASCAR with Jeff Gordon focusing on HMS and Tony doing what he is doing those 3 in my opinion that have the most "pull" within the sport that can relate to the fanbase and win new ones. Jr is a dude that is relatable, genuine and most import a race fan and racer. They used to say he was the pied piper on the speedways, he's that for the sport.
  15. Lord knows it's always hot around here but damn man! Y'all be safe out and about this is some pretty intense stuff.
  16. Friends, just a small clarification on the statement. This only means GCRS is presenting events at HMP. Facility is open for business, anyone or organization wanting to promote events at the oval should reach out to the track owner for details and options.
  17. There will be no shortage of great action in Texas this weekend. Besides all the weekly tracks you've got CBS, TRP, Race Ranch so many. The 5k to win Baby Blue Harcrow Memorial Sat for IMCA Stock Cars will be massive! Go find a track and check it out or stream some races on RaceOnTexas.com ALL ACCESS!
  18. The promoter's promoter. Sad loss Weds as Bruton Smith passed away at 95 years old. This is the man that made racing a show, in a very good way. NASCAR Hall of Famer and true legend. Sad day in motorsports.
  19. Yes indeed men, whole new ballgame these days. It really has squeezed out the common racer. We saw the writing on the wall years ago when it became impossible to compete with the big money. You race for fun but hell you want to have a chance to do well. When we realized a top 5 was a win, it was time to do something else. It sucks. Very much a snowball effect of how it got to where it is, and well said about Texas. Dirt it is and it is getting pretty complicated too I hope that bunch is able to work together and keep it thriving for many years to come.
  20. LSSZ if you are free around 6:45p Monday Leroy Farmer is calling RUSS to tell some tales! https://revvedupsportsshow.com/ click LIVECAST at the top if you are not a Facebooker.
