  1. I keep hearing to many yellows. New Bristol sucks because there's no contact. Hmmmm
  2. We will be the only one that think this but you are spot on. Not my music, you know what I did when that come on? Took the trash out, got a beer or 4 and came back to watch the race. Pretty easy. Ratings are in it appears it did well, again.
  3. If the lawyers are working those hours there goes the $ for the track lol
  4. Great conversation with Ghost Trax chaser Andrew Thornton and Rocket Raceway Park's Kevin Sustaire.
  5. Love the COTA idea for sure, hell it's close to me. Don't think it's so much that they don't care about the local stuff but more of a situation where something would need to be presented to them that would produce a profit or the possibility of profit which we know how that goes. I think a race track there where they could do the Bristol thing with both surfaces could be more of an idea with big shows coming in and supplementing with some of the other divisions around. Some WOO, Late Models, IMCA events and pavement shows could be interesting. Plenty of room for camping etc the way the place is designed. They would for sure need the push from outside the state of Texas though to make it event worthy, Austin is indeed a destination for NASCAR and F1 fans but don't think any of those reasons entice short track fans whatsoever hell lots of short track fans don't even want to drive on Austin roads. I've always thought Retama would be a better option.
  6. Have a great one lined up for you all! 6PM Kaden Honeycutt talks to us at 6:10p after a great debut at the Chili Bowl and the new man at the helm at Boyd Matthew Yates checks in ay 6:30p. Catch it LIVE https://revvedupsportsshow.com/
  7. Really excited for this season with SRL, we are super excited to welcome the 2nd Annual Davidson Electric 125 back to Mobile which I'm sure Chris will compete in as well.
  8. I've talked to folks at COTA and mentioned a short track. Don't think we want that they don't get what we do it would be few that could afford to race there. They only know big racing they would not sell $30 pit passes and big purses, TMS may get get it but again for the people around here that will be too far and lodging isn't cheap. Bottom line Texans need to put your eggs in the Houston basket I cannot think of anyone that is to build a SAS, THR, Pan Am, CC Speedway etc. There's one hang your hat on that.
  9. Awesome! I didn't see it live I missed it by about :30.
  10. I've always dreaded the day someone takes a tumble and cannot stay in one of those rockets. That was scary, I was told there was not an ambulance onsite I sure hope that was not the case can't really believe that.
  11. Don't change the model, don't think this group will. It's become the current day All Pro Series for a reason. They will grow this well I think and I expect to see some expansion but all of these folks (minus Marks) understand the plight of a short track racer. They will do well while letting the SLM series do what they do. Lets see if in typical racing fashoin the SLM teams don't try to migrate to CARS, lots of great talent young and old in this series.
  12. Hoping the CARS Tour continues to be what it is, a true grassroots series as much as possible these days. Don't change rules, don't let it get corporate and don't start running in huge markets. I think NASCAR is awake now.
  13. SA would be a great NASCAR destination for all of those reasons. But landing Cup races, truck races are hell. For some Super Late Model racing, bi weekly stock car racing I'd still give it to CC those fans aren't tourists, good food, fun, ease so access wins out with the short track crowd. First time I went to Pensacola a guy said do you wanna go sight seeing in Pcola. I'm like yep, where's 5 Flags Speedway. Lol
  14. I'd still do it Corpus, I have always thought of CC of more of a fun destination. SA is great but just don't think it has the draw of a coastal city. Austin, not even way to hard even in the suburbs maybe the Taylor area but it is way to far off the path and now not the easiest to get to and honesty we don't have many racers left. On top of that CBS has a great hold on what we have, they deserve it.
  15. Agree, and I have been told numerous times in the last 2 years. If Texas could establish a stable 1/2 mile race track we could become a viable pavement racing state once again. To pull in large shows which are needed.. we have to pull from outside of Texas like it or not that's the deal. Weekly shows at 5 Flags Speedway are not good.. at Mobile we struggle. Those teams like the big tracks which sucks for "local" drivers. The City of SA is the key to get them aboard would be the key to making things happen. 16 has all the appeal needed to come back to life but I just don't think it will. For pavement friends, focus on what you do have available .. Houston is there, they appear to be moving forward love on that place.
  16. From SRL National: We currently have 38 sportsman entries for the first event of 2023 at Freedom Factory on January 7th. Reminder that tires need to be purchased at Auburndale Speedway. Crown Vics are currently at 29 entries.
  17. Agree, I'm curious though is SAS in Von Ormy now, I know the pic is SAS but wasn't sure about that part. The dragway last I saw had lots of shit on it. I'd still build a 1/2 mile oval at the Marion property. You know, if I had money to burn. I'll support and work with whomever but yes we have been down this road a time of 2. And... I am not trying to be an ass but when plans are being drawn and volunteers are needed, that's a tough start. Look at the Wilks and Rock projects folks are being paid, handsomely I'm sure to get those up to par.
  18. Yessir be ready you are on that short list of people that need to talk racing with me "After Dark".
  19. Here's something to think about that I have said for years in pavement racing and something that needs to change. People say why 2 days, practice day, all day race day etc. I'll tell you why, to sell tires. These larger teams need fresh rubber as often as possible. Pensacola for example, I stayed right near the track and I was having coffee and there were cars on track and I don't drink coffee after 11am. Oddly enough this Hoosier tire shortage? No sign of it there. Heard some rumbles of tire stamps and lot #'s, it's a racket.
  20. Recaps were best as I mentioned. You could run them for weeks. We had a way heavy nova and I couldn't drive straight to save my ass and those tires were spot on. Hard as a rock. I do remember when Cody made the switch drivers wanted the costs cut, he cut the costs... drivers response, these tires suck we are 1/2 a second slower lol. For a real entry level class something like those would be great. Side not from time to time you could throw those recaps on the dwarf on a dry slick track and that thing ran like a stolen cop car.
  21. When we ran Towel City retreads at Austin they were great and cheap! Used em in DCRST .. same effect.
