HMP Saturday Night

Recommended Posts

Going to tell to tell you all this event was a big step for HMP and paved racing in Texas. Billed "Mid Season Championship Night" which brings back lots of memories was a great start.

Car counts climbed nicely for this one, a $1500 to win and at one point having Rick Pollaro, Grant Thompson, Jake Wright and Memphis Villarreal as the top 4 is impressive. A modified class that had been pretty shallow pulled a stronger field, the staples Eco Stocks and Legacys did what they do and get cars there. Outlaw/LM/Street Stock was stronger and I'll be damn 3 more Bootleggers came.

More impressive weather here was hot and we knew what was coming, so did the fans. YET they showed and stayed and this show ran like a dirt show and paved shows up North. 6:45 start, done at 9p. Weather went crazy at 9:30p but still the fans stayed. Even more impressive the track saying ok, here's the cards let's change the game and still get it done. Impressive AF.

This is going to work because I don't think team will let it fail and team I mean all involved from the top down. July 1 is the next one I think that one is going to be really, really good.

Good news for sure, hope they can keep it building. Rails, hope the damage was minimal, hope I'm never close enough to hear another tornado much less be in one.

Thanks top shelf, it’s a mess, but at least I don’t have to move out, many others were not as fortunate. I had every intention of going to the races but was managing freezers and refrigerators through the motorhome generator. I was able to make the previous race, and I am truly excited about the current direction. I just hope that Mr. Owen hangs with it and produces the results as he has at his other venues. HMP is still a very nice facility.

That's one thing with Owen, there won't be wasted time. He has shown success at every track or series he's had a hand in.

Rails, hope it's things that can be repaired or replaced relatively easily. Only been close enough to hear a few and see funnels from a distance but seen the damage they cause, even the "little" EF1s. I'd rather go through another hurricane than tornado and even that I hope never happens again.
