  1. Lucas Oil also dropped the ASCS series as well. Ive also seen where they have dropped a couple other series sponsorships and I believe they have changed their focus on team sponsorship.
  2. I think this is the last Bristol Dirt race. Every year they have made an annoucement about the next years ticket sells for the dirt race and this year nothing was mentioned for next year. I think this race has run its course go back to the concrete. If they want to continue to run dirt go to a place like Eldora, Port Royal, Williams Grove, Knoxville but do it with actual dirt cars and make it the all star race.
  3. Speaking of the street course look up tickets for Chicago and just take a gander at the prices. Very ridiculous for only being able to see a little of the actual race. At least at COTA, Sears Point you can see multiple areas of the track where a street race you can be cut off only seeing your area due to buildings and other things. Plus sounds like some of these drivers really dont want to even do the Chicago street race and really dont want anymore road courses.
  4. So I finished Denny's Podcast at lunch and he was asked if he thinks the 1/2 mile deal will come out and he said No he doesnt think it will happen. Interesting tidbit of info he stated when Nascar bought the Fontana property from Penske for he said he thinks it was in the 600 million range that not only did they get Fontana but that also included Nazareth, Rockingham and a couple others i didnt catch. I thought that Rockingham was owned by someone else so I dont know how much is actually true.
  5. Ron I agree with you, listening to Denny's podcast this morning on my way to work and some of the cryptic things that were being said sounds like its all over. I think the 1/2 mile idea is just getting everyone's hopes up but nothing will prevail. I've heard them mention what to do in SoCal while this construction takes place and they keep bringing up Irwindale and racing there. But looking at the maps I don't know if Irwindale can sustain to hold a Cup race there. I could be wrong as it has been a good 10+ years since I have been to Irwindale. The one track I think they should look at to use is Kern County. I know its not close to the LA Market but that's a nice racetrack and plenty of room and its a short track.
  6. Am I a racer? I am 43, I have raced or been involved with a race team for 35 years of my life and probably have more laps around a racetrack than you will ever have. I have raced on dirt, asphalt, road courses, drag strips. I’ve raced 1/4 midgets, dwarf cars, go kart, trucks, midgets, drag cars. I’ve crewed on pro late models, super late models, race trucks, sprint cars, midgets, drag boats, nitro dragsters, dwarf cars. I have been a spotter for trucks and late models. I have worked for race tracks. I currently crew on a ASCS Sprint Car and OCRS Sprint Car. I’ve been to race tracks all across the US and constantly adding tracks every year. I raced at every asphalt track in Texas that was open during my time Longhorn, Thunderhill, SAS, HMP, CCS, and Wichita Falls.
  7. Won't happen. Oklahoma is a dirt racing community almost Mecca like. They had paved tracks here nice ones. But none of them are in operation anymore. I literally have one that I can look out the back of my business and see the grandstands and lights. High banked 1/4 mile they tried it on Sundays and Saturdays and only a few showed up. I attached a map that is all within an hour of Tulsa and there is 8 dirt tracks within an hour, 7 of those tracks are big cars 3 run on Friday 4 run on Sunday pits are full at each track. The 8th track is Port City which is all micros that packs the house. I will say it again Asphalt racing in Texas is almost dead with Houston being its only breath. Quit trying to revive what is long dead and support what is there. Let COTA be COTA they don't need a circle track. Always remember if you bring up a asphalt or another track what happens to CBS, I-37, STS, Texana they lose racers then if they lose enough then they close then your right back where you are at now. So support the tracks you have.
  8. Cota wont build a short track for local racers or even travel racers. They only want the big events or the SCCA, Porsche, Ferrari days. They don't care about the local racer. Yes Austin is a travel destination but those people traveling to Austin aren't coming to Austin to go see a Saturday night short track. When it comes to Asphalt racing in Texas, its a thing of the past and HMP is holding on barely in my eyes. They have tried to get the late model racing going, they tried and big money race at Houston hoping to pull cars from 5 flags and Monroe and only like 3 came. Back in the hey day of Asphalt racing in Texas CTS, SAS drivers would travel to Houston to race but the racers in Houston would not reciprocate and travel to CTS or SAS. I know the tracks made common rules and raced on weekends apart so people could travel. CTS would have a race and have 10 trucks, HMP would have one and have 20+ trucks. The Super Stock class Central Texas racers would travel and Houston racers wouldnt. You did have a small group of houston racers that would but not very many. So in closing as much as you want another asphalt track in Texas support the tracks that are open, I know they are dirt but they have car counts and are thriving.
  9. I was not there Wednesday night but was there Tuesday night as that was our qualifier night. A lot of people don't think there is an ambulance but it is parked outside as there is no room inside for it. But there is an amazing medical staff in multiple spots in the UTV's ready to go. I have seen another angle of this crash that hasn't been shown which is the drone shot and the staff was on him before the cars had stopped. One official almost got hit trying to get to him. There has been a lot of speculation as to what caused this and there has been a lot of talk about arm restraints getting stuck behind the latch and the hit and the arms moving caused the latch to unlock. There is a lot of drivers that have stopped wearing arm restraints because of this issue and would not be surprised if something is finally done because of this wreck.
  10. Reason I say go to dirt is because cars are there, they are readily available. Yes there is asphalt cars some left but not a whole lot. Most that had them converted them to dirt or they have been sitting in the weeds for so long. Next your only gonna really pull racers from Austin and San Antonio. You will get a couple from Corpus but Houston none of them will come to SA to race. That was evident during the hay days of asphalt racing in Central Texas. Next thing asphalt racers bitch non-stop about rules and their classes. Dirt cars throw an IMCA or USRA sanction on them and bam you can go run where you want. Plus dirt racers will travel to race multiple nights because they don't have to be at a track all day long.
  11. If im not mistaken I thought the drag strip was taken completely out and should be right around where i put the purple highlight mark. The fence line being the grandstand is the fence line for the race track. Now I will say there is a lot of race tracks that are multi purpose drag strip/circle tracks in operation in smaller areas that work fine. But best thing that could be done is they start from scratch and turn it into a dirt track. Run on Friday nights. You have Waco and Boyd running Friday nights in North Texas but no dirt track in south Texas for Friday nights. Between CBS, I-37, STRR and Texana you could pull cars for a Friday night show.
  12. Looking at what they just posted it is the drag strip first then circle track. From the way its wrote is that this is a ground up build. Looks like they are asking for volunteers, and whats funny is drag racers are saying they will help and then here comes the circle track people start asking is it asphalt or dirt? Come on people just say you will help, and just be interested that a track is possibly being built instead being closed. This is not a dig at what you are saying Nick this is about what I saw on the post.
  13. It should be noted the 7TX is a Helotes Texas car owned by Alan and Gary Buchanan out of Helotes.
  14. I used to say it on this message board back when Thunderhill was blowing and going that they should get with the 94.7 morning show. Their producer was a big nascar fan and would go to the races. Give him tickets to give away and have him come be an honorary starter and he would plug the hell out of the racetrack but nothing ever happened with that. When CTS put up the stage and had concerts in connection with the races they would have big shows. I remember the night that Randy Rogers played out there after the races there was a few people I knew that that was their first time there and i told them get there early see the races and told them to cheer for Casey as he was running his pro late that weekend. After that weekend they went to the races when they could and would call me and tell me about what went on that night.
  15. I would really like to see them get a ASCS National race and then we could come run down there.
  16. Just saw the schedule for the outlaws and only one stop in Texas at Devils Bowl.
  17. You might check but I know this track has dirt put on top of the asphalt or it was tore up. But the World of Outlaws either ran there this year or last but after that the track was being shut down.
  18. Mike just asking do you have any more information on this facility? I literally work about a 1.5 mile from this track, they have the go cart track there that does get used regularly. I've asked a lot of people that I have met since moving up here about that track and everyone says it never really took off. But other than that I cant get really any other info on it.
  19. from what is being told is that Myatt told Austin that ever since he went to RCR he has been a Cocky mf’er.
  20. I heard this same thing, and agree with Radical.
  21. Can you imagine how many people went on iracing or nascar heat and pulled that same move last night to see if it worked in the game just like it did in real life. He could probably try that again 10 times and not get the same result
  22. What happened Saturday? Do you live under a rock that was all over the place. Ty Gibbs took out Brandon Jones on the last lap to win the race. He flat drove through him. But heres the catch Ty Gibbs is locked into the final 4 for Phoenix, Brandon Jones has to win the race to be locked into the final 4. So instead of helping his TEAMMATE and making it 2 JGR cars vs 2 JRM cars at Phoenix going for the championship you now have 3 JRM cars and 1 JGR car. Blatant dumb stupid move. But here's what gets me where is the outrage on this page for what Ty Gibbs did? Oh thats right we only want to focus on the wrong doings of Bubba and no one else. If your mad at Bubba for letting Hamlin pass but not mad about this you need to check yourself in the mirror because you got problems.
  23. Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Paul Tracy, Robby Gordon all had or have anger issues should they not be in a car? Look what Denny did this year to Ross he didnt wreck him but he damn sure made himself look childish should he be in the car? Carson Hovecar has made a mockery of the truck series this year by doing some pretty dumb and stupid stuff that have changed the outcomes of races and the championship and they have not suspended him where is the outrage over that? What happened last sunday didnt have to do with his issues over his dad that was frustration of running in the lead and then getting into the fence. Should he of right hooked him, no he shouldnt have, could he of spun him down into the grass yep he could have and this would be a mute point to a point. You all would still be bitching about Bubba for a reason. None of you complained about Byron intentionally spinning Hamlin 2 weeks before. Read this and read this again, Bubba got where he is today because he had the talent to be there. He has paid his dues and has been running better and better each week. Having Kurt join the team has made him a better driver. He made a dumb decision and he is having to pay for that decision. Hamlin and the high ups at 23XI were going to park Bubba for the race whether nascar did it or not. They took his name off the car and put Nemecheck's name on the car that doesnt happen for one race. Face it Bubba will be around for a while. I know all of you hate him over the deal at Talladega but he never saw it, he went off of information that was given to him by Steve Phelps and then was pushed by others to make a statement. I'm telling you sit down watch the Netflix documentary you will have a different outlook on things.
