Does anyone

on here know what the actual colors of Nash's #24 and Blackie Lothringer's #98 were. They

were similiar but I think Nash's was a lighter shade.

I am not sure on what year the the colors we are trying to identify on the modifieds.

The modified of Blackie's was somewhat a lighter or medium metallic blue.

George's modified in the later 60's was much darker and two toned with white.

That's all I can remember and hope this helps

Byron: When Billy Perran first sold his metalic blue #6 car to Blackie, it showed up at Meyer as #3, same color and everything. Now if Blackie repainted or renumbered the car after, say, July 1965, I don't know anything about it - I was visiting beautiful South East Asia soon afterwards, and missed everything at Meyer for 4 years.

However, the car as it was originally sold to Blackie was 55-56 Dodge Royal Blue, and here is a picture of my 1938 Chevy coupe, from January 1970. I have no color pictures of Billy's #6 or Blackies #3 car, but this was the color when Blackie first bought it. Just to save time and trouble, NO, I don't still have this car! I suffered a momentary lapse of intelligence about a year after this picture was taken and sold it. Been kicking myself pretty much ever since! Everyone has the story of the one that got away, well, this was mine!

OK, It's Thinking-Cap time again guys and gals.

I have these three pics from 1972 and I don't know who it is. Nice-looking Dodge Charger, and he obviously won something but I have no clue! Please help if you can!

Thanks, tommyo

THE OTHER ONE LOOKS LIKE ALTON MCARTY

A first glance, I thought it was a young Leroy Farmer.

 Looking at post #11, picture taken in 1970, Leroy Farmer seems a little taller than the driver pictured in post #159. I'm just not familiar with Alton McCarty. But, could possibly be George England on the left, from what I remember.

The #54sprint car in post 143 was my dads sprint car, but he only drove at Meyers once with the 427 Ford, he said the small block did not have the power the 427 had, but it was hard to slow the big block down on the other end of the track, he seemed to think Gordon Wooley may have drove it in the 71 liberty bell, he was going to ask my uncle, there wre a couple of other drives that drove when he was out on the road in the truck. That was a Nance sprint car, he did not remember running it with the broken nose on it.

OK - I haven't posted in several weeks, for no other reason than just being lazy. But we now have a new year and I still have hundred's of pictures to post, so let's get going. Next up:

Freddie Fryar. In going over my pics of Freddie, I discovered I have more pictures of his car rather than of him in his car. There are several good ones, but I'll go with these of Freddie IN the car unless someone specifically wants to see just the pics of the cars - let me know.

As I recall, with the start of NASCAR Late Model Sportsman events at Meyer Spdwy, Tony Barcelona had a former NASCAR GN/Cup car that was a '64 Ford Galaxy body/frame, and I believe a big block motor. In those days, the LMS cars were the 2nd tier NASCAR cars after the GN/Cup cars. In the days of stock passenger cars being modified/blueprinted to be used as racecars, the Cup cars were the current and last two model years, and the LMS cars had to be at least the third year older, but included several model years. In the case of Ole Red #8, the first body/frame was destroyed after trying to avoid the cars of HB Bailey and George England, who had tangled at the end of the front straightaway, and turned hard left and went to the infield and turned sideways and hit the light pole with the passenger side. The pole was destroyed also, breaking in two about half way up. That #8 Car was hurt, shaped like a V. Luckily, Tony was not very seriously injured.

RETrott - it's interesting that you should mention that Tony's 'ol red was a former GN car - that's the way I remembered it anyway. I had been told (way back then) that it had been

a former Cup car, I believe a Holman-Moody car. When I was track photographer at Meyer in 1971-72, I was there every Friday and Saturday night. In '73 I was burning out on the

whole thing and I was attending only the Super-modified races. I wasn't there when Tony wrapped the car around the light pole. Was that in '73 or possibly later? Tommyo
