  1. I've had the pleasure of making a couple of races at Bowman Gray. The most recent was this past May. Amber Lynn and her class had a 100-lap race. She won and led the entire race. If she has the opportunity to move up, I would be willing to bet she'll do good in whatever she drives.
  2. One of the reasons I do not care for Hamlin. He's so darn arrogant!!! Instead of making a video apologizing for what had happened he makes a joke out of it.
  3. I was never a fan of Junior. I definitely was not a fan of Senior. But I do admire his honesty. Especially when he calls out his own driver for what he does on the track. We need more people like him in the business,
  4. I agree. If you want to run up front you best have some money backing you. Otherwise, you'll just be out there going around. Just seeing what is in the classifieds is way more than I ever had to pay in the 90's for anything. Yes, I know price of things go up but if you consider inflation I think it has gone up more than the economy. I also believe the dirt tracks will eventually go away as well. More developers are buying up property. They can offer the track owner an offer he couldn't refuse. I hope it never comes to that.
  5. Metroracer, i agree with you 100%. I miss those days long gone as well. I have been a race fan all my life. I grew up in North Carolina near Charlotte. I remember listening to it on the radio with my father because it wasn't televised. I agree with HiTech about the cost just to race. I did all my racing in the mid 90's at Corpus Christi Speedway. I raced off my per diem money from traveling for my work. Now when I look in the classified and see how much cars and parts are going for, I wonder how an everyday Joe like myself can afford it. I would love to see a full stand of people at an asphalt track. I came back from a vacation to North Carolina 2 weeks ago. I had the opportunity to go to Bowman Gray Stadium to see a race. It was unbelievable how full the stands were. These stands go 3/4 around the track and it seem to almost be a standing room only situation. The car count was amazing as well. I can only hope we can have this again in Texas. At 67 years old it is something I would like to see before I head off to that place in the sky with my wife.
  6. It's just that some of us attended one of Nick's suspension workshops. I for one still have a head that spins in one direction and does a 180 and spins in the other direction. This cycles about every 3 minutes. Once mine and possibly others can stop this wobbly situation maybe the chatter will pick up.
  7. I have no issues with Logano. He hit him a little harder than I think he expected to. He was so much faster than Byron those last couple of laps. Made up a lot of ground. Byron had already pushed Logan up to the wall earlier and Logano did just what he said at the end. I like Byron but he had to expect it. Everyone was talking about Logano when he started in Cup how he needed to get the message out to the other drivers. They were using him up every race. They said he needs to stand up for himself. When he started taking up for himself a lot of people took a 180 opinion about it. I can guarantee you there are drivers out there on our local tracks that may not have had won a race in a while (if ever) and it they were running this well that they would not have done the same thing. I think it all depends on who you pull for, I guess. Logano was deserving in this win.
  8. Looks like someone could get a heck of a deal. If only I was 30 years younger.
  9. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this interview. I believe I watched Carlucci Jr. run his first stock car race. For sure I was there when he became the Flying Carlucci. He has always been a hell of a driver. One year in the 90's they had a Stockcar Spectacular in Corpus Christi. He had recently rolled his car and I asked him if he wanted to race my car in that race. He accepted and drove the wheels off of it. His Dad was one heck of a driver too. I remember one night Jr. was saying his car was loose so Senior took it out in the heat race I was in. I was running behind him throughout the race. Every time we got into the corner that car was all kinds of crossed up. Senior was not backing off the throttle but stayed in it. How someone had that much car control was unbelievable to me. I wish Jr. and Ryan the best this season. I plan on coming to the track for sure this season. I have not been to a race in many years. Spent the time making sure my wife was taken care of until she passed away last year. Good luck to you Jr. and congratulations on your win and I am praying for your Dad.
  10. I agree. Alan is the first weatherman I have seen that can give you the weather forecast but also explain it to you in a way that you can understand. Everyone else just says it will be hot and windy or cold and wet.
  11. Thanks Josh42. Good luck this year.
  12. The new racing season is quickly coming upon us. I was wondering if anyone has built any new cars or put new bodies on their cars. I would like to see what people will be racing this year so post your pics if you can.
  13. I don't see them getting rid of all the NASCAR races in Texas. Texas still made out with them moving one race to Austin and gaining the All Star race. Who's to say it won't stay this way for a few years?
  14. Who do you think did the suspension work on the stagecoaches, buckboards and covered wagons?
  15. I watched him in the Busch race at Texas Motor Speedway years ago. Him and his crew acted in the most professional manner.
  16. I'm thankful for family. As some of you know I lost my wife March 2nd after years of poor health and then the virus took her for the final. My children and her children have been there for me the whole way. We still get together both sides of the family. My children check in with me and her children does the same. I'm still treated with respect and love from both sides. I could never had made it this far if they were not here for me. I can only say to you and to beg you to tell your significant other and everyone you care for each and every day how much you love them. Tomorrow is not a guarantee.
  17. That was a nice bit of driving. Did not know how much more abuse he could put on the car in turn 4. Wasn't able to tell but he must have put most of the field a lap down if not all. Do you know the drivers name?
  18. Yes, you have that right but Lonestar SpeedZone Forum is not the place to be doing it. This is a racing related forum, not politics. Try your stuff on Facebook.
  19. Amen HiTech. This country was in a lot better shape than it has been since January. If anyone doesn't believe that than they are blind to facts. This message sent out to the Trump supporters was uncalled for. Maybe I will need to take a trip with you to San Antonio for my punishment with Nick. But to defend our beliefs about the state our country is in makes it worth it.
  20. I will have to disagree with you just a little. This may have been one of those racing incidents but when it keeps happening time after time by the same person it gets more suspect. I'm behind everything Chase did. When I was racing it always seemed like it was this one guy that we would have some kind of incident. I even had his brother ask me as I came off the track why I put his brother in the wall. I'm trying to figure this out because for the whole practice laps his brother was on my inside. The point I'm trying to make is something has obviously been going on for a while between these two. It was said something about Darlington. I'm sure there were other incidents through out the season. Hopefully after their discussion in the hauler and sleeping on it things will be okay between them. If not, then we'll most likely see who the main culprit is.

$50,000 is not nearly enough to rattle some sense in that boys head.
  22. That's the Wilson I'm thinking of.

They have parked him before many years ago after intentionally wrecking someone in the truck series. Hornaday?
  24. Let's see if this old brain is working properly. Didn't he use to race in the T.I.D.A. Series?
