  1. Does anyone remember this exciting music at Meyer Speedway..................... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znEePD1nJxo
  2. He and I have discussed this before. Just keep gearin' up 'til somthin' floats..........................
  3. Thanks for the input. I didn't know we had Bronco race cars in the 70s. yes please post pics.
  4. That sounds right to Randy. our car turned about 200 more RPM on the back chute than the front.
  5. Mark, I heard once that it was 1/2 mile 8' out from the pole. But you are right about the gears. At one point we had a 6.14 behind the Boss 302 in the Mustang. Little short stroke motor sure sang. I called it the "Little Old Whine Maker"
  6. This has been posted before. I call it "The Ghost of Meyer Speedway" http://www.svt-enthusiast.com/modules/gall...Pictures?full=1
  7. Papa, as near as I could see, the rear engine cars priced themselves out of business. They didn't mix well with the conventional cars. It was much easier to get 35 or 40 of the regular cars on the track than the more expensive rear engine cars. I must agree that the rear engine jobs were some beautiful feats of engineering. That's just my take on it. Don't mean it's right...........................
  8. Thanks Randy and Bud! Great pics! Any info on the origins of the white 11 car? Chrissie, can you find out? It sure looks like the sister car to Charlie's 1 car.
  9. Something terrible happened to Chrissie's pics! Can anyone help or is this the end of this thread............ The 11 car looks like the sister car to Schilds #1 car. Anybody know? Jim, PHOTOS HAVE BEEN EDITED AND RESIZED
  10. Thanks Larry for a great pic! That one must have been in the rafters!
  11. Thanks Chrissie, I would love to see all those pics. I hope you can post a program from about 1965 or 1966. We have been searching for names to put with certain cars and owners. My program is "put away" and I haven't located it. Oh and Welcome to you!!! Jim
  12. Here's M.J. burning some laps.
  13. That was probably the 56 Ford that Roy cut in half just behind the driver seat. I saw that wreck and it scared me. I can't say that was him in the 84.
  14. Larry, I think you are right about the video. I have the VCR tape and the DVD. I believe Ed's narration was edited out of the DVD. I also believe that the video was edited to suit someones purpose. Maybe in the intent of producing a better DVD. All that is beyond me..................................
  15. How come the # 121 didn't have a body on it? Seems like that would blow a lot of wind up your britches leg.....................................
  16. Just C.O.D. one of those $380.00 kits to me!!! Jim, Hang on and I'll build you one! I just recently ordered another classic body, so guess I will be busy with restorartion projects around the house. My plans are to restore two of them!
  17. I also have the one narrated by Ed. This other DVD I have has Playland and Meyer on it, daytime race. This is the one where we broke the axle on the last lap or so. I think I got it from some folks at the Baytown track. Been awhile..........................
  18. Thanks Randy, These bits and pieces help us put things together. I didn't know Sonny had left town.
  19. Larry you are correct about that car. I reviewed the video this morning and you could clearly see the #9 on it. This was the twin to Charles Ray's car. I still wonder who owned that car and who drove it. I think Jimmy Mc Kinzey(sp) narrated the clip. He said it was 1962 Meyer Speedway but I think it was the Labor Day 100 lapper in 1966, maybe 67. We ran Broncos and Modifieds that day. He said that Billy Griswold was driving the car but I'm not sure about that. Maybe someone closer to Billy can fill in the blanks. I thought the Frank's Ice House people owned two cars. Maybe they sold one.
  20. Yep, that's it. We frequented the drive-in also. Kind of a cruise through place.
  21. Or maybe the number isn't 41 but 11. The quality of the photo is a little blurry. Wish I could find my old Meyer program.
  22. I can see very strong similarities in the two cars. I don't see a 9 on the other car. It looks like 41. If that is the 41,who drove 41? I think you are right about the cars probably being built by the same person. I'm glad you found that page. I looked and came up empty. Need more data...........................
  23. Thas' OK, I'm jus glad I'm not in trouble................................
  24. Maybe so. I thought that was him in the 10 car behind the 54. The 26 was on the outside.
