Pure Stock rule issue

Recommended Posts

Please keep in mind not trying to stir up anything but only be a possible solution for STS to consider. Rules change over time and most people go with the flow. Most people come to understanding why, may not agree but regardless everyone moves fwd. However with the recent cam change this effects all the cars running in pure stock at STS. This is very big because last year the pure stocks car counts were really good and consistant. This is a car count killer at least at the beginning of the season due to the schedule getting pushed up sooner. There is no time nor money left for teams to make changes emmidiately after the holidays. I dont think this is as big of an issue as the track may think it is to fix. Obviously it would be nice to have both classes run same rules 100% across the board. But in this case there are several things to consider. Neither group of cars at STS and SOS travel back and forth for local shows. In the event of a rain out when a track has been down for a couple races then maybe just for a driver to get a racing fix in. What I saw at SOS Halloween Havoc was awesome racing by both groups. I know there are other rule issues as well but none are as important as the cam rule change.

In my opinion and this is only my opinion a single word can be changed and it will not hurt the two tracks working together nor effect the racers one bit.

Remove the "and" and replace it with "or". Instead of having both vacuum and lift rule simply make them decide which one they want to go by. This change would also allow CBS cars to fit into your cam rules then. Now again they may only come for big shows but at least they have the option of coming. Several things, it would help your tech man out tremendously if a driver is going by vacuum and I would venture to say that would be the great deal of STS drivers. It would keep teams from pulling engines over the next 2 months and spending alot of money for very very little difference if any. Also you just made a couple dozen drivers very happy and worked with them on a specific issue they all feel is bad for their current class. If this is something you want to have done then maybe over the next year promote this change will be coming giving teams plenty of notice. The pure stock class is one of the areas best class and I do believe you will see that again come Decemeber regardless what the min. rule differences are. Just food for thought from someone that has made those type of decision before. Good luck and hope the tracks and drivers both are able to compromise with one another so we can have a great 2015 season.

Maybe it should have been these are the rules for 2016 you have all of 2015 to comply all cars will be DQed at first race 2016. Just saying that would have pretty much said it all!

And it would have given all teams time same as 10" tire rule they gave every body a chance to use up what they had.

Valid Point.

Not every track has a .450 lift. That is simply misinformation. Cotton bowl speedway has a vacuum only rule. Too much wrong info gets passed around way too easy. Btw who cares what pure stock do in houston. Are you aware pure stocks in houston can run a Victor 2v aluminum intake. This is what I run on my street stock that turns 8000 rpm. You really only should worry about the 3 tracks in the area. Anybody outside of that has other tracks a lot closer to them then sts, cbs, and SOS whom they would work w a lot easier then the above 3 tracks.

THERE IS MORE THAN A CAM RULE. WHO WANTS TO BUY ALL THESE CARS THAT DONT FIT BODY RULES ANYMORE BECAUSE OF TOO MUCH METAL TAKEN OUT OF PACKAGE TRAY AND REAR FLOOR BOARDS. MOST OF THE PURESTOCK DRIVERS WOULD NEED TO SELL OLD CAR TO BUILD NEW CAR AND FEB RACE SEASON IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. JMO MAYBE THESE RULES FOR 2016 THAT WOULD GIVE EVERYBODY TIME TO REBUILD OR CHANGE CLASSES

SOS max lift 450 at vavle

CBS is not purestock its stock cars totally different

Sts vacuum rule and gm cam

So what are you trying to get at here when's the last time a CBS car was at sts to me you're not making any sense your saying you don't want 450 lift when the track 1 hr away runs lift rule!!!!

Cbs stock cars is simply a name. The 6p car and 32 car both ran at cbs, SOS and sts last year probably others too and fit within the rules just fine last year. The question should be asked how did they do that not telling people to stop whining.

I agree totally but I'm sure both tracks heard, I'd love if they work together, now they're hearing on one side, why are we having to change. Havoc was before the rule change too. The guys on their home tracks are tough to beat then you have the Houston guys that come down and do well too. In theory, now you put your own guys at a disadvantage at a big show or you alienate the out of towners if you run local rules only. How many guys will be changing cams 2-3 times a year? Again this is all theoretical and absolutely nothing personal towards anyone involved.

we will be running with tps .if we dont sell the 8 we would be running it at sts or planed on it in till now in our off weeks .but still run it at cc too keep it just local next year ..this just makes it easier to want to sell it ..not going to spend the money to change it .good luck guys .over and out of this deal. btw not mad with what the track wants to do hope it works out and they can keep the car count up .. .just lost the interest ..
