A letter of Appreciation from the Stacy family at Shady Oaks Speedway

I was asked to post this for the Stacy family:

The dust has settled, the facility cleaned and the track is getting a prep job for practice next Saturday. We think we all will agree USMTS put on a great show. With eight days to bring this all together we put out the real SOS and so many came to our rescue. We can’t possibly mention everyone but it took everyone that helped to make this be a great weekend of racing. We do feel we need to mention several people and organizations that helped.

First on the list is Todd Staley with USMTS for working with us to find a way to bring this event to Shady Oaks Speedway. He took a chance with us since he knew nothing about our track or our family.

The facebook hype began with a couple of avid race fans. Scott Bargloff and Jon Hutchison. They created #teamshadyoaks. Scott came to Shady Oaks and did video of the track, videoed an interview with a couple from Missouri that just stopped in to see the track, got newspaper coverage, got channel 25 TV to cover the event and talked with businesses for potential sponsorship.

Also involved in our facebook coverage was Gina Corpus who has been so active in covering SOS for the last two years.

Speedway Benefits did our graphics, press release and fan contest. With such a short time frame our only advertising of this event was through facebook. Our facebook got fans so excited we had people drive from as far away as Abilene and the Rio Grande Valley. Winter Texans staying in area towns got the word, as well as truckers that drove 60 miles out of their way just to see these races.

Late on Tuesday night I called Darren with GOCO wireless to ask if our wifi would cover having so many people using it. He came immediately and made sure we had what we needed. The next day we found out that RacinDirt would do a live stream of the race on the internet and he came again and made all the changes needed to get the video out to people who could not be here. Then came the first race day and our office computers would not work. He again came fast to get the problem corrected.

To the staff that worked this event for us thank you will never be enough but without your support we could not have done this.

South Texas Promotions provided us with the extra infield staff. Steven Bone Photography who has been doing SOS pictures since 2010, Wilkinson Chevrolet provided the pace truck and digital sign board advertising, Allgayer, Inc. the portable lighting, The Tote sponsorship, Koehne’s Welding the pole truck, Goliad Auto Parts the use of two UTV’s, Alan Bryant a portable welder, Richochet Sunoco Fuel truck, Sanderson Motorsports for being there with tires and supplies. To everyone that came on work day and helped mow, paint and clean the facility.

On Wednesday night the truck we use for fire safety burnt all the electrical wires under the hood. Our resident mechanic manage to bypass the burnt wires to get it working but we had already put a call into Ander/Weser VFD and within an hour we had three nights of fire truck coverage. Then on Saturday our backhoe developed a mechanical problem and help came from the pits to get it fixed.

So one last time, we would like to say THANK YOU to everyone that worked so hard and to the drivers and their crews that gave us a show to remember. We will work hard to get USMTS to return next year.

Our sincere appreciation,
The Stacy Family
