RodneyRodriguez
Terry LaBonte, Slick Yoemans, Freddy Fryar, John Kelly, Jimmy Finger and Rick Rapp. Versatile drivers at all tracks, all winners. Keith Reithmeier and David Umschied damn close honorable mentions as well. Not sure of the order but those are the guys that got it done.

xzgqh6
I have not seen the following mntioned in this thread and they all raced more than Meyer speedway and each one race in cup races back in the 70's @ 80's. Larry Schild, Jerry Schild, Joe Plowman, H.B.Bailey, Ronnie Chumley, Phil Cronin and Tony Barcelona. For those of us thaqt had the fortune of watching these drivers race in Houston, Jackson, Mobile and other southern tracks we were able to witnes these drivers outrun the likes of Freddy Fryer, Terry Labonte and even King Richard when he came to Meyer
Bullrock210
Nobody has mentioned Ricci Ware Jr or Sr in his day. Never saw the old man race, but Ricci raced a lot of tracks across the nation. He did pretty well at PAS and Longhorn. Just thought I'd throw that in. Need to start a thread about the best crew chief.

97car
I have to agree had some good races back then and the drivers seemed to have a bit more respect for each other too. Yes incidents happened but it didn't seem out of control. Neil and his officials kept it under control.
arob
I think Mr. Upchurch's post shows there are/were many great late model drivers in Texas. For me it is Rick Rapp as he did more with less.Fryer may be the best but he also had some real good equipment to drive. Rapp usually drove cars that were much older than what he was racing against and still beat them.So in no particular order top 5 Rapp, Fryer , Kelly ,Davidson and Davidson. Yep he raced asphalt, and Yep he was pretty darn good at that too. Lawrence is good at just about anything he climbs in.
Ariel66
Lawrence drove a Romco Super late model in 03 or 04 I believe in a older car @ CC Speedway, I forgot the number but it was white and way older chassis than anyones out there. Started towards the back and finished 3rd I believe, but got DQ'ed for an '' illegal carburetor'' there's no doubt about his driving but I know he ran dirt alot more. My pick would be Greg Davidson without a doubt!!
txtom
Lawrence ran Romco in 2002, maybe the year before and after. Number 187, I think Scooter Delaune had 87 those years. I have the Romco results on file, maybe look for Mikulencaks results tomorrow.
