Sonuva......We agree on something again.....I've made this comment to several, got shot down every time....If you give away, say, 100 tickets and get only 10% return, that's still ten new faces....Of course you have to provide a good, well run, timely show too.
i agree with this also .. .it cost nothing to give tickets to those who have never been .. u can only win in the end .. i can tell u frank gave me some tickets to give away when he was alive and running cc speedway .and rank was a tight wald ... but talked him into 20 tickets ... i know two of them turned into racers . 1 turned into a sponsor for me and robert .. i know three drivers gave up drinking to race . two of them we built their cars .. nether one had ever been to a race ... heck my wife had never been to a race till i took her once in 1984 .. and she helped me buy my first car the next season .. and we have never missed a season sense after 92 i sold both my cars and have helped others sense .. .. parking a racecar out where its seen is one the best advertisment around out near major road ways and such .. alot of poeple have never been to a race and alot do not even know there is a racetrack around .. justabout every racers buying gas has had someone come up to them looking at the cars and asking where is the track .i have and some showed up ... .. another thing alot of folks wont come out when they do not know a racer .....i dont go to a ball game unless i know someone .......

Well if the demise of the internal combustion engine and the fuel that powers it comes to pass by 2030 that would be the end of it anyway.
nah we would have to go solar power .. nick i believe youwere part of the go faster group .and u never drove a racar or owned one i suppose .. u just made them working on the on moving part that fit under the motor . i remember the racars sitting around the gas staions ..

RON back when we ran prosedans / just taking two cars upto red river speedway cost near and over 8 to 12hundred min .. our tire bill with 14 inch slicks could cost us 600 plus of that money alone .. even going to sa could and did cost 500 plus again tires alone were a big cost .. and u run for what $300 AVERAGE . JUST OUR little four bangers cost 10 to 12thousand just to keep them running with the jones ..i think in 2008 nearly if not over 20 grand to run that season ...... 1989 we had to re build our class by cutting modifcations out .. again tire cost was one big issue even then ..we had to go recaps and then later on eagle test tires ... .. . when we raced a bomber in kyle sa and cc we raced street tires cheaper and lasted longer we had an advantage there .my brother inlaw owns a tire store and he helped us pick out the best tires to run and that worked . stock motors .. so cost went way down but still not cheap .. .. now we are on dirt at first cheap .now factory stocks are running some are 10 k motors special chassis up graded control arms ball joints and such .and shocks that is the biggest shock .. 800 bucks for four min .some who can afford them go way past that mark .. the main thing here is they went to pull off slicks that cost alot less than what we were running .but that is the only savings which does not offset the rest everything else is up .. ... lucky not like asphalt racing u can take your car just about to any dirt track and not have to change much .maybe a rear gear .and some adjustin of springs . the rules are common .. ashalt racetracks were so afraid of losing cars they did not work together on common rules till its was way late ..... . ONE OF THE BIGGEST ISSUE was sponsorship it was very hard to lock heavy sponsors down ..the most normal excuse for not sponsoring us was sponsors got burned in the early years .cars not showing up and such .. . . just touching a few things that worked agaisnt asphalt racing,,,, i see alittle of it heading into dirt track racing .. mainly the cost a factory stock is not cheap .. soon to repeat past history ..on its way to killing itself .. nothing new here common issue / start a new lower class that starts the process all over ..

I not only go to the races, but I spend a considerable amount of money doing so. It is important to excel at the basics on race weekend. TMS fails in that aspect. Its great to hear that they have other revenue streams. I go there for the fall race weekend. Getting the tanks pumped in your motorhome should be easy, its not. Buying a bag of ice on the grounds when it is a 100 degrees for 4 days should be easy, its not.
I understand its not 1997 anymore, but when you have been doing something since 1997, you should have the basics sorted out. TMS does not. The opener at HMP for the new series ran out of a lot of stuff at the concessions stand, you expect that, they will figure it out and get it sorted out. There is no defending TMS these days for me. Its not called the Texas Convention Center, it is Texas Motor Speedway.
WOW 1997 FIRST NASCAR race we went to .. went to the bush race where it rained and rained and stayed in a mall for hours nad hour waiting for the race to restart ..and we loved it cool seeing the race finish at night .. sunday we had to park three miles past the track we paid 20 bucks a car to park on a ranch .. the all 10 of us with ice chest blankets and many other items walk those three miles .. got there just as the cars were rolling off pit road .. after the race we crossed over the freeway . as a truck was baout to pass us up i stuck my thumb up the truck stopped we loaded up the driver took us to our cars .. we sent the next five years taking ten of us to the track .. we always paid for 12 seats .ice chest and itens needed a place to sit too ... have not been back to a nascar race sense 2002 .. rained us out that day and we had ot come back seeing i owned a fed ex gorund route with no one to cover my route .. a $1000 bucks wasted .. did go one years to an irl race ..

You probably checked this already, but if it's loading up and fuel pressure leaks down after driving it you may want to make sure the regulator isn't bleeding down and flooding cylinder #8. Also, if you mean it takes a few cranks to get the fuel pressure to reach a steady 60psi or so, you may have a fuel pump bleeding down. Hope I understood you right.
yep u heard me right ..number 8 injector is stuck open . i am going to change both all the injectors and fuel pump ..its been sitting almost four years .. and both have never been changed .. i can get the parts cheap enough .. this is for a brother whos other truck is worn out he has no money and can not work .. another brother and i bought this tahoe for him back in march or so he does not know about this .. it had some miner front end damage i already fixed .a electrical short typical of these trucks . a couple of rust holes from spending most of its life near the beach fixed .i repaired and replaced parts on another 99 that someone uses for hunting .. he iwll have some spare parts that were still good off the other truck .. the owner hunts in mexico so we upgraded alot of stuff ..so i have many spare parts and shocks that will fit this tahoe ..lucky me .. .. its almost done to turn it over to my brother .i spent two months on the veterans car that took time away from this project .. i seem to be doing alot of projects that make no money but cost some as of late but worth every minute and it helps those who need it .. after the truck is finished no more projects like this for awhile ..i have hundreds of stuff to finish around the house i started 5 months ago ... once u retire u go to work . ill need to get a job just to get a vacation .. covid created this back log at home ..

HiTech,
I know you are not looking for a pat on the back. You have done an amazing thing for many people taking on this project. You have made new friends helped many people that you don't know with this.
Thank You for allowing others to participate and share in giving back to others.
NO SIR U ARE CORRECT no pat on the back i am just the servent EVERYONE WOULD need a pat on the back is not what we all wanted .. . I mJUST GLAD SO MANY saw what i was trying to do with little information .. all who joined in get the same thanks and joy that we played all a part in . so many need our help and it is impossible to do that .. but like racing we work hard to pass the next car and the next the next week and so on .. this was a no loss finish, first place everytime .. . david our vet is not comfortable right now around big crowds just yet .. .only time will tell and i am sure that someday soon that can all change but still have a big hill to climb i may need a tow rope to get up there .. i told him i can only help him so far and he will be meeting some who shared his life i asked him to meet some brothers i cant be .. and will little by little this will take some time.. but time is in his favor .. i have plenty left i hope ... ... glad you took the ride with us . tell the wife and son thanks ..

THERE COMES a time when you are speechless . where u cant find the words ..
i am having a hard time finding the words
... A STORY that started Well over a year ago a quest an adventure into the unknown ..HOW WHEN AND WHERE ... was the theme i spent many a nights thinking about worrying about afraid of .. sleepless nights for weeks and wondered am i doing the right thing am i doing it the right way even though i have never done something like this . i have always helped anyone where i could even at my own cost thats just me .. . but did i take on something i am not prepared for .. many times i thought man its to much it took alot of time away from my family days nights weeks ........ but a thought always stood in the way to help me on my way .. no way could u not .someone needs your help u have it made .the others suffers and is lost . and needs a helping hand . the future could be brighter if only i can do something nomatter my cost my familay and friends cost .. oe erson i met was in worst shape . something i could not live with with out helping as small as it may seem but can send someones future leaps and bounds in the right dirrection ..that partstill holds a furture not proven yet ... ..
I SOON REALIZED it was much bigger than i .. i needed the help of many starting right here at home with my rock my wife and then onto sam and his family then brandon and his shop and many others i cant think of right now .. i ventured into a raffle i never in my life tried before did i do it the right way ... it paid off so i guess it worked .. speedzone members joined in most of all we have never met but many helped in many ways .. silent faces with a strong voice loud and clear ad faces i may never see .but know they have a big heart a caring heart a love of country a love of their fellow americans .. many were veterans i can only say thanks the true and real feelings can not be shown ........... THE SHOWING OF THE CAR that sam along with his dad and brother put so much energy into making that a happen .. i was there to witness an amazing family .i learned so much yes old dogs can learn i never in my life of 66 years sanded a car over and over just to find it needed more sanding and that i am not all that great at it ,,..................................................... when davd the veteran saw his car . his voice said its blue the sound had excitement i never heard from him the walk around was amazing to watch all the folks outside to witness this in the cold and rain .. which brought the numbers way down who could attend .. and glad they didnt with what mother nature had to give .. i think the rain was sent to help wash some of the pain the veteran carried for so long .. ... he was joyfull . just what we all hoped ..i saw clear eyes his true color not those dark eyes i have gotten used to that low voice as if to say i am afraid to speak .. IN THE END LEAVING FOR HOME david and i had a minute face to face .. i saw life i saw color i saw happeness i saw relief .i saw a person who realized he isnt the only one i left him saying . its time to get out go back find that person u loved .u have a wonderfull family inside the building to live for and u all deserve to be happy ,u have many brothers and sisters u will never meet they all pulled for u and helped us along the way .. .......... .. THANK U IS ALL I CAN SAY ..

I am curious to see what they are going to do with TMS after this year. In the lower grandstands they took out every other row and put in a table ledge to set drinks and stuff on. I could still swing a cat in any direction and not hit a soul from my seats. Not sure how long it is going to be able to hang on that way. I know there has been talk of some sort of reconfiguration. But my gut tells me that date could end back up at North Wilksboro.
I hope not, but the way the place was managed from a fans perspective at this years fall race it my be better if it goes away.
Hopefully HMP will be back to a full race season next year. I was able to make the Sept race and it made me happy to be back there and see a really nice crowd.
Now I hope to be able to make it down to Corpus for the 3 day show in December. Just need some luck to go my way.
ILL WISH YOU THE LUCK ..

I PAINTED MY FIRST RACE CAR BLACK cheap walmart paint all the car was worth .. found out painting a white stripe on it still got me run over anyway .. .. i mean the drivers told me they could not see me so the stripe was added .. i think it was because i was a rookie and rookies you can bounce off of and still convence the rookie it was at fault ..
-
Thanks but mother nature put a stop to the painting today . bought another heater tonight to help warm the area up .. . makeing it harder to finish .. WE HAVE alot to put back on that car plus put the trans back in once we get it back . but nothing can be done till its painted ..... the big hand on the clock moves slow .but the little one is moving much faster ..we will keep working to finish it just have to put even longer hours on it IN ZONBIE LAND . before saturday // it will make it ...
