I think the regional CC & tourism market would eat it up. An asphalt facility would be a feasible gamble.  Might be the "last" best shot at saving short track motorsport in our neck of the woods.

 ALOT of the asphalt drivers left to go dirt racing it was cheaper then  but mainly i think track managers were one big issue ..   had kyle stayed open we would still have least one asphalt  car if not more ..i grew with blacktop in my blood and still have it .but the cars now  are dirt  set ups and so on . hmp at one time talked about haveing a factory stock  race  there .and we were for it ready and willing  but that never happened .and if they want to have one we would show up no problem .i think it would be fun as heck   watching those drivers hang onto a car built for dirt .as for arob  you would show up if there was some great racing going on .. admit it ..you love  great racing  just like the rest of us .

if you are racing factory stocks now  buying racing shocks 5000 plus motors and such like  special chassis  .. it isnt cheaper   traveling   still cost alot  just entering a car  each night cost per car . . i travel with the car most of the time and havent saved a dime to go . my son sold his out the only thing left is the motor and trans and trailer .. .why because  it was going to cost to much to run ... ..racing all the way around is costing to much now .the toys are not cheap .

 RON the whole world changes at 65 . you get the right to say i am a senior.. . never thought i would live to this age working dangerous jobs  the odds were not on  my side and i beat them ..  have my wife of 35 plus years .my 30 year old son   .a couple of friends on speedzone  some racing buddies and  still breathing . what more can you ask for ...

 VIDEOS  cant show the real speed these racer are going .. . does not take long to get around that old track .i ran around it in upper 15s and lower 16s with a near stock four banger   some of driver were in the 12 to 13 second times  in those cars . fast enough to create a vortex to keep rain off of us we always thought .many times been at that teack with rain all the way around  us  just blocks away and not one drop till the last flag flew .. too bad never to happen again .

3 bucks 12 and under  shoot that is what we paid to get in cc speedway late 60and  early 70s .. i know we went to a race in 1985 at sa but not sure it was that one it was a big race  but still not sure ..

USED TO  knock dirt racing growing up all through  those early years at cc .. i never went to our local dirt track just about a mile or so past south texas speedway  where even terry labonte and many others would run on friday night  i still never went ..  i thought it was for farmers the old riverside advertisment always had WHERE THE BIG BOYS PLAY ... I SAID BUT THE MEN PLAY ON BLACK TOP AT CC SPEEDWAY .. then i got humbled in 84 having to race  at riverside  the only track open at the end of seaon when i finaly got my first car i could call  junk now ..i got my hundred dallors back when i scrapped it .. ....i am like you ron now retired and  been out of the car to long  . i look at alot of drivers today and realize i would be in the way  i would be  one of those  i use to hate on the track old man ..    i would now carry  the get the hell off the track old man  title .. ..

ron  my first was cc speedway way back in the early 60s .. my first dirt track was river side not to watch to but drive my first race with a car built for cc speedway .cc was closed already ..man did i have fun not knowing what the heck i was doing . but my first race i finished 3rd out of ten cars .. i was in heaven .. after that was hell .. but worth it .i learned a few things on dirt that helped me 5 years later at cc .how to handle a loose car and few other issues.. dirt will make you a better driver in many ways alot of fun  .. but black top will always be number one with me ..  ...

i dont worry to much about the driver  i have seen his best when the car is junk wrecked bent all to heck front wheels not even near where they should be  two inches of slack in the  the stearing wheel and many other major issue and go beat you with it ... just make him mad  nothing wrong with the car ..lol..

 WENT up to edna last night to tune the car ..wont say we broke any records except our own .we  turned   our fastest laps   ever not to far off the leaders ..but  if we can talk the faster drivers to back off alittle we would look alot better ..lol.. i love it when the driver says .it felt slow  but the numbers were his best ever  ..

AT MINUTE 7.02 WAS WHERE I AND LORRAIN   got our first breath taking look  at the track in 1990 next to the  building . that was something i cant  or any  first timers could ever forget  that first WOW  view was something .. . he walked up about where we sat that day with some friends from  work . we walked down to go through the tunnel where he walked up toget our first view inside another wow ..the other end of the building is where lorraine and i stood and visited ned jarret and benny parsons just before they went up to do  recorded show of what was it arca winston west   race i think with dale darrel and kenny  .havent forgotten that couple of minute visits . of course benny was eating a hot dog .. .  1991 LETTING IRENE WILKY race my pro sedan car  the first female  to qualify i think 12th in the history of prosedans in a car she never even sat in  before that weekend  i think she was in the top 8 when bill wont say his last name spun her on the last lap  because he didnt want a women beating him .lol i think she finished where she started . she made the news ....i was going to race in that race but momma didnt want me to go for the weekend with her just two weeks away from joshua being born . i never got the chance to go back and race tida again at tws .. ..not one lap .dang ..made about six trips to that track ....

THIS YEAR  best team won ..9 plus   races won and his team showed up  the last stop and made it easier .. .......sure glad hackster hamlin didnt win it ..
