NEVER OWNED A DIESEL . never needed one BUT MY BROTHERS have owned them all .. one of my brothers just got rid of his 2 year old dodge better milage but nothing but trouble always something wrong with it .he had to replace the front springs drive shaft somethings else in the motor and always vibrations .he love the power it had but 150.000 miles he had enough .. he has a bad back and fords seats hurt him other wise he would buy one .. so he now just bought a gmc .loves the truck but feels like its lacking in power and fuel mileage wasn't as good as the dodge ..... my other brother owned a early gm .but went to ford when they had that junk motor and trans 20 years ago .but has never owned anything else sense .. all ford .. .. MAINLY LOOKS LIKE what are you going to use it for i think ..as for milage unloaded it gets about the same mileage as my little v6 i have in my dakota .. . but you want power mileage will drop

AT15 i i was hit by a car .. i spent 3 weeks in driscoll chidrens hospital in corpus my two week stay on my back and one getting out of bed i found just how bad kids have it and what little things you can do to make their stay much better .. being 15 i was 3 years over their maximum age limit but the issue with my leg was a matter of keeping it or losing it driscoll had the only person who could save it ... 1970 and i can still hear the screaming and crying of sick children day and night 24 7. and any little something different helped .. when i was able to get in a wheel chair i would go into rooms where they would let me and do what i could to cheer them up . had one 8 year old who was in and out all the time .go home good come back sick and no doctor could figure that out .but this little boy would come and visit me while i was in bed i shared my treats with him and we would talk and or read comic books .. one day i went to his room . i thought he went home it was empty .. no he died overnight alone .. i know least 12 children died in rooms near me . .. i live near that hospital . every time from day one when i pass by i look at that 3rd floor and the window i looked out of . i feel that 15 year old looking out at me saying man i wished i was going home today. i am sick of this place . the sound i hear was all those children who never went home .. all the suffering the cries the parents cries . ..i love children .. they are our world . this child will have to have a storage unit to box everything up thats coming his way ..

There's something eerie going to an abandoned race track, almost like old baseball diamonds. Love or hate that track or field, but like you said HiTech, the memories flood in. Strange how loud silence is when these memories flood back. You feel like you are back at that moment you're remembering, sights, sounds, smells all come flooding back. I've driven by CCS, and take a look at what's left but haven't dared to try to walk around it. I do have many great memories there, but for some reason SAS ellicits more for me and think it's because I have been able to go onto the property and wander around freely.
if i happen to be around the track i dont pay much attention to it now .it looks so trashy now half torn down does not even look like a speedway . we all know its gone .. from the street view i dont feel the loss .. the only thing i notice more is the old pit area where the gate use to be way back before don bought it .. i see the cars lined up along the ditch waiting to get in many parked on 44 .. i use to park along that ditch as well with my car .. . then during the nights racing you had to be good at driving just to get out on flato road with out hitting ditch hitting parked cars on both sides fans walking to get to thier cars THAT took talent .. i remember on man getting hit on his motorcyle he had broken leg or legs .. man i burned alot of rubber on flato and ran my car wide open down flato to see what the top speed i could hit on the track .. .. how many time i painted that wall .. how many time we added plate to that wall .. when i had time i help don with the packing of the knew pit area with a steel wheel roller .. hell things keep popping up . shoot that could go on and on and on ..

LOOKING AT the forth picture of the opening below the flag stand .. , i see this little boy all excited walking across the grass that once grew just in front of the stands and going through that opening i see a teen riding wheelies with walter after the races . i see this young boy running out to touch the hot sticky tires after the last feature .dub rollins all the flanigans and many more .i see in his memory the mustang dare devil .. tractor pulls .figure 8 races .motor bike flat track racing ..go cart racing .. and so forth .. that same young man wishing for the day he could race on that track maybe sign an autograph or make another driver mad .. hear the voices of fans who liked his racing and those who hated him .a wish come true nearly 30 years later .i see old jalopies running around the track . .the smell of cotton candy wood burning pits with some of the best cooked burgers .the sound of ken cessna playing the race is on by buck owens .. working the pit gates punching staple holes in every ones shirt shaking like heck when it was a females shirt or less he had to pull on . . he could hear the races going on in the late 50s and early sixties wanting so bad to go see what all the noise was about .. seeing so many fights break out ..standing under walters flag stand next to terry and kim on his right and bob on the left while the 44 was being teched . his job was to make sure no one touched that 283 small block before tech man came out ....... he was working for the track .. he remembers the motor bike dirt track . he remembers digging the mud tracks . . spent many years helping with painting and repairs for frank ... .. now at 66 years old he . i can say i was a lucky one who got to live that life .. the best was watching my son race helping him win his championship .. and other races .. . while his mom my wife sat up in the tower and scored my races then later on joshua ... working instead of enjoying . but that helped her with her nerves ..you know mothers are always worried ..// this are some of the hundreds of memories i will take with me .. i wont let the vision of this track destroyed ruin those memories ....

many years ago well documented on here i had i had a yukon or something eating my lunch .as time went by it was eating everyone else lunch right along with me i had hundreds of hour and every ones attention with all of us trying to figure out this hell on wheels .. i am fairly good on chevys .this one had an issue with cam and crank sensor going out of range after a few minutes of running .. not one stone was left unturned .the owner begged me to give up on it , HE could not afford the effort ..well i didnt charge him outside of the job he hired me to do .fuel pump replacement .. almost 4 months on this truck .. now everyone had the same answer i did .but nothing worked , i tested every wire ground sending units borrowed ecm and every other thing i needed off a donor .. if it didnt fix the issue donor parts came off .. . i talked to folks who built the trucks system .no answers they had .... something made me do this on a lucky strike after telling the owner monster trucks were coming to corpus the next week if i have not found the issue we were going to let them crush it .. he agreed .. i went out side to move the truck it wuld run fine for a few minutes as it started acting up .i touched the crank sensor and the darn thing stayed running .i took my finger off it would go to junk and die .. HUMMMMMM..... SO I TOOK A SHOT AND REPLACED THE TIMING COVER .fixed it ..that carbon cover was swelling and pushing the crank sensor out a couple of thousands from the reluctor .. no one has seen that before and i havent seen or heard of it ever happening again .. most likely everyone would give up and never noticed that .. sometimes it best to be lucky than good .

I know this is an old post, but I thought I would add my 2 cents. This same ignition/PCM/ fuel system is found on the 4.3L W engine, 5.0L M engine, 5.7L R engine and works similar on the big block 7.4L J with the exception of different fuel injectors. The 4.3 and 5.0 are found almost exclusively in 1/2 ton trucks with a few exceptional odd special ordered combinations. The 5.7L is found in all classes up to 1 ton. The 7.4L big block only comes in the 3/4 and 1 ton. These engines were installed in trucks from 1996 to 2000 (in Classic 3/4 & 1 tons). I think the best way to tackle this would be using a scan tool; owned or rented. While cranking, look for an RPM signal. If there is a RPM reading, this most likely eliminates the crank sensor. This would leave either the ignition module or ignition coil. A bad module or connection at the module would most likely set fault codes. Seeing that there are no codes set, I would then proceed to the coil. Before condemning the coil, I would inspect the coil connector. The connector has two leads, a pink circuit which is battery voltage and a driver circuit which goes to the module. The wires are notorious for breaking inside the insulation. A tug on each circuit would break the plastic insulation revealing the open circuit. Fixed!
DANG 2016 when we spoke of this .. time sure as heck flys .. good info though ..

LOOKS like someone didnt find the level on that floor to start with .. so no matter what that chassis is not going to work . going to have an issue with tire pressure to boot .. . i think that is just about how far reb has gotten in how many years of speedzone ..

I agree. Alan is the first weatherman I have seen that can give you the weather forecast but also explain it to you in a way that you can understand. Everyone else just says it will be hot and windy or cold and wet.
HE has some of his dads traits where he explains things where most folks can understand . back during harvey you could see he was more personable with out being a clown like the last one who retired . almost like you could see the worry in his face as he pointed out issues in a calm way . ..he reminds and or reminded me of charley saint john whom i learned alot from growing up on how to read the weather in which i still use today .sort of .. alan and nick were bringing the ranger over one day for me to look at shifter issue i think . they were late so i called found they were eating a burger instead of being on time smartly not inviting me . a ugly looking rain cloud was just right at the edge of my street not looking good . i had nick ask alan after i warned him about the cloud .alan came back with it wont hit your house and in ten minutes it will be gone ... he hit it on the nail .. i knew we had a good one ..big different between a meteorologist over a want to be we have and had have in this city ..

NICK .i think its time you get smart and start a fan club for alan where you can sell autograph items .. i keep running into folks who just love that young man .. OFCOURSE many are older folks i meet but hey older the violin the sweeter the music .. . .. A COUPLE OF THINGS I HEAR .. he is so cute . and really great and trust worthy ........... that all must be on his mothers side .. when i say i know him and his dad they want to know is he what they think he is .. WELL DEPENDING on how much they want to pay me for info i give them what they want .. hope you dont want a cut of that part . BUT IN ALL REALITY . HE IS JUST WHAT THIS CITY NEEDED WHEN IT COMES TO WEATHER .

No you are not drunk arob ... I THINK its more set up issue camber in the right rear .. some may have been pushing the max on that .. or tire pressures not being followed .. . pick your poison .i have watched as much as i can at all the races .. so far not bad ..

Yes, I did too, I got new tires for my house, I had to move and they were 10 years old
No mileage on them i bet ... BE a little more costly to put tires on my house . getting through traffic would be murder and under red lights , plus 40 acres just to turn it around .

Reading this back all those years have gone by .. DIRT HAS TAKEN OVER factory stocks have least 30 cars show up at every race average .. one rules . two most tracks agree with those common rules do not have to change much of anything to run all tracks .. purses are still the same when it come to inflation . cost of keeping up is getting way to high darn near supper streets now my son had to give it up just on the motor cost then add high dollar shocks and other little parts prices . shoot building a car from scratch cost more than ordering a chassis .. and most cars are ordered ,, so in all reality dirt racing is costing more than it should ....with even carbs many of the teams with money or least some backing are costing 6 to 800 plus ..those or just 500 cfm .. forget the box carbs .... this in time will follow the paved track direction ..down the drain .. . dirt tracks tried to cut cost on motors . we bought one of those motors legal motors and didnt last a season a saving a what thousand ended up costing more . but the shocks went sky high if you want to stay up with the joneses ...... so dirt needs to keep an eye opened on this cost or it can head out the door in the future ..as for cc speedway where i spend most of my 66 years at .. managers ,cost, and different rules from one track to another .killed all of it ..cc is gone sas is gone kyle is gone and some i cant name mostly for the same reasons .. had dirt tracks not got on some sort of rule package that fit all . their would not be many tracks open or car counts .. . and all the dirt tracks seem to all have great management===..a big purse will not always promise a packed pit ..

if we ever get our act together with this car we will be racing there . been trying to get up there for three years ..always on our list but something always comes up ..either car or work or weather ..or broke ..that is most of the time

SAD DEAL .. this wreck brings back another sad wreck when in 1982 the highway patrol showed at our construction yard we owned in alice ..we had an A64 FORD LOADER with 8 feet forklift set up for loading drilling pipe . . i knew there was a head on crash between two rigs in the fog on 281 north of alice that happend at 4 am this was noon when the trooper showed up .. i loaded the forks and bucket and headed out to the wreck .. i never seen so much carnage . one rig burned up just like this one the other was pancaked with a family of three inside crushed at first we didnt know their was a new born in the pancaked moving truck didnt find that baby till the next morning i noticed something when i was loading the cab onto a trailer . a baby bottle fell out . the little girl was crushed behind the seat where you could not see at all . i will never forget that moment .. the other driver was found in the FRAME where the motor use to be all of that was scattered up and down the road way .. the rig caught fire and burned just like this one did .. 26 hours to clear that sight .i met the family of the three killed . they just got married and was moving to houston ....you can never unseen something like that . RIP TRUCK DRIVER .

COME ON TOM you know darn well local racers are honest and would never pull that stunt ... .. I NEVER DID except once or twice ,,,
-
IT WAS A FAST MOVE TO THE RIGHT THAT GOT MY EYE .. but it would be stupid for larson to pull that stunt with his team mate .this isnt daytona ... i question chase spin . ... i can see chase not happy not being the number one team and that makes him work harder .. the run he had anyone would have taken that i wont question .. but in racing my law was if i go outside it may not turn out right . those two will be fine someday chase will make that mistake larson did ..

THAT RACE KEPT ME WATCHING ..the daytona was a bust for me .. .......

FUNNY PART that truck i had had never been worked on and back then no one had that answer . found it by accident . the old saying sometimes better to be lucky than good .. but that luck turned into months and hour sleepless nights i cant sleep much when i am tried like that . i hate losing when somethings you know could be just a small unusual problem .something simple . some times a nightmare .
