  1. You got that Right Bro....You got that Right !!!!
  2. Ok, Thanks for everybody's comments on this threads subject.... However, I have advised this fellow racer to hold off on his idea of racing his Truck with the Super Stocks at HMP in 2020. Until there is or if there ever is a True Street Stock racing class, then it just may not be a good idea to try to compete in a racing class and not to be able compete for the Win in a fair & level manor. I told him may be some day, But for now that idea of his would not make too much since, and may not be too safe as well!!! Ok, Thanks LSSZ Members for your time...
  3. " Indeed !!!! " Tank is Right !!!! Yah, But you got to give him credit....at least he is willing to come out and support Texas Race Tracks of any kind !!!! Some race drivers just like to race Specialty or old type of race cars as a throw back or a personal statement kind of, to Stand Out so to Speak. Status-Que or Cookie Cutter is just not their style !!!! ( Different, like a Novelty.... with none of the Big $$$$ to buy the extra Pony's needed for those 15.5 lap times!!!!) Tracks should try to attract & Accommodate and don't turn away all types of racers "Rich or Pour" "Average or not so Average" " Out side of the Box kind of thinking" all racers still put on shows in their own right. Fast or Slow...Racing is Racing....
  4. Hello, It is not a "Pro-Truck"....Pro-Trucks utilizes a Metric frame as the base chassis per the "ARTS" rules for them + lighter fiberglass bodies for them as well!!! His truck is using the stock oem truck frame & the stock oem Steel Body & steel floor pan as well....all built as a Street Stock, the Stock A-Arms, the Stock Rear end so on and so forth as a typical Street Stock... a little too heavy & old style for the modern Pro-Trucks.... thanks….
  5. Asking on the behalf of a fellow racer: His Question is: He has a 1982 C-10 SWB Chevy P/U that he is building as a Dirt style Street Stock race truck....( it is not a Pro-Truck) He wants to know if his race truck could fit into the current HMP Super Stock Rules package, mainly for 2020 !!! So, if He Has all of the required & in-date safety equipment, the correct racing Hoosier race tires, the needed radio equipment & spotter, and if this Race Truck does meet all of the rules requirements for the current Super Stocks package....Could he enter his race truck and compete? He wants to race at HMP next year with his race truck in the Super Stock Class. He wants to know if he would be turned away before he makes the trip... He has not been able to make positive contact with the current TSTRS tech staff with his questions. So can some one from TSTRS give him a thumbs up, or a thumbs down please !!!! thank you for your time...
  6. Hale to the Chief, Mr. Rodney Rodriguez … The Man with a plan !!! Let me tell you that it was very HOT at the race track HMP last night !!! But R.R. troopered though it.... He had a little Mic trouble, but got though that.... He had a little issues with his notes, but worked through that, He mostly was the only announcer most all of the time....He was able to slip away from the Mic for a brief break or two.... Had only a few quick sips of water here and there !!!! Could have went inside to the A/C, but did not choose to !!! But by the end of the night, He had entertained & informed the crowd like a TRUE Professional that he is....I don't think any other announcer could of held up to all those issues last night in that Muggy Heat ... A big "Good Job" to the Man...Mr. Rodriguez... Thanks R.R. , please keep up the good entertaining things that you do for us Texas race fans.... Good Job Buddy...
  7. In Deed !!! Thanks for reminding us …. & God Bless our Troops & First Responders as well...
  8. Well The New "Can-Do" & "Positive Open Minded Attitude" is at least a breath of fresh air towards good things to come.....
  9. Well-Well.... Three Days in to the new Racing Series Promotion Teams (TSTRS) Reign at HMP, They seem to have jumped right in with a both feet running approach towards a Positive or Better Racing Experience at HMP for the race Fans & the Drivers as well. A breath of fresh air is always a good thing. I am also glad to see the old school Deep American Human/ Racing Family touch or Theme that this new Promoter is bringing to the table. (Meaning) This new Team has not forgotten Who they are and where they came from with the spirit of that....Family first, Racing a very close second !!! So with that said, Please do us some Good new HMP promotion team.... P/S: and you can believe that I got my "Two Cents" in....now it may be actually be Four or Five cents worth, but they will get the kinks worked out for the Fans & Racers too. They seem to understand this simple theory : " No Racers, = No Fans"..." No Fans, = No Racers"…. meaning it is a two way street !!! They got this.... Thanks for Listening ….. Metro
  10. they said for the rest of 2019 !!! the race dates are to stay the same for the most part....Maybe some tweaking of some dates.... 2020 may be different some....they did not say too much on race dates info in 2020 though... hope info helps...
  11. Well I just got wind of a change of the Promotion Management team in the T-STARS racing series here in Houston. Hope that works out for the good for the area Race Fans & area Racers alike.....Good Luck with that !!! God Speed T-STARS.... thanks for what you do!
  12. Yes, can't go wrong with the classic Late Models....Love them back too, even if is just special events some times.... I miss the Classic Style Street Stocks or Pro-Stocks Love to see their return as well, even some times as special events.....maybe !!! thanks for your time !!!
  13. Josh, the HMP pit passes are $30.00 a head....I am thinking that they should be able to handle your credit card for you, if not there are plenty of gas stations & little stores near by in the area on "Mount Houston Rd." and or on "BWY-8" right down the street that have atm's available. I don't think you should have any trouble getting in one way or the other.... hope info helps....
  14. Hummmm....and Mike & I always thought that Uncle Nick was just a spry 39 years old....So I am guessing that we missed that by a few years or so... So age is just a number..... Who dropped that dime? Hummmm....
  15. Well.... Hummm ….. that is a "DEEP" Subject !!! But, Let's hope so.... Would be great if they can get it done ! However, "Stay Thirsty My Friend !!!!!"
  16. I agree with King & Tim..... We as Texas Racers & Race Fans are kind of tired of hearing fancy talking round about "Words" or we're in conversations, negotiations, Plans this, Plans that....., Financing this, Financing that...., Searching for Partners here & there...., things are looking up....., Progress is being made here & there.... Please spare us of all that behind the scenes Drama.... WE are all just Anxious for More Texas style Short Track Racing Venus, but mostly a Fresh new Modern & Safe Asphalt Oval Track for local style short track racing yes, but other traveling type of racing series events & racing drivers from other asphalt racing series from other parts of the country as well. As other members have stated many times, Please find a way to Build it, and the Racers & fans will come out and support it with no doubt !!! WE are Hungry for this track to be built... So can we just get it done, with out all of the "Talking & Hype" we have been waiting to hear about pending race dates to be set, what type of race classes, and rules packages so on and so forth to get our cars ready....But are still in the talking & planning stage... We are really tired of Talk....Enough Fancy Talk or water cooler type of Gossip....We are needing a Race Track ASAP.... Either there is going to be a race track and it is going to open on this date w/planned race dates, or if nothing is has been signed yet, or No race track due to Problems of some kind that fell through, or we're still looking for that rich business man that likes racing... When any real concrete information is actually known !!! then talk to us..... That's what we want to hear one way or the other.....Please !!!! thanks for your time....
  17. Well Said "getzum" !!! ….Plain & Simple. There are way enough Racers, Race Cars of multiple Circle Track Racing classes, & Circle Track Race Fans alike that just can not wait for an other asphalt circle track in Texas to compliment along with the full-season of asphalt racing @ HMP as well. Us local racers are Ready, Willing, & Able to support both asphalt racing in Texas. We all must remember that there was a time in our recent past of five or six Asphalt Circle Tracks here in and around Texas. We are very Ready …. To - Get - It - on... at the these two fine racing facilities. As "getzum" said..... " Build - It" with no worries ...We the Racers Will Come & Support it, & With No Doubt...The Fans sure will come..... The San Antonio area & South Texas in General has a very Rich Racing History that goes way back to the very early 60s at least.... We as Races & Race Fans alike, we do Appreciate this new race track in Texas for sure - For Sure....And we all give the Owners & investors a hardy THANK YOU.... thanks for your time....
  18. Well said Hunter!!!......Lets just stay Positive, Grateful, & Patient on this deal. "We DO NEED this to go through however".....bottom line !!!!
  19. Maybe Nick can tell us about what became of Robin McCall & Eddie B. that race there when the track was called Hwy-16 Raceway in 1980-1981 era. I raced with them both a few times around that time. Boy oh Boy, they could get it done at that track for sure. that track is where those two very good drivers & also Greg Davidson showed me how to "Diamond Arc the Turns There" to help keep up the RPM's a little better. the turns seemed to be very much steeper right in the center in the very early years to me. in the early years that is how it was done there. now in later years I think after the track surface settled in after several years of racing, I believe the trend was maybe rim-riding style for the fastest way around..... I can remember after a few seasons on from being new in 1977, the racing surface kind of became kind of ripplely some what right in groove in those turns. that was a little of pain to deal with. had very good times at that race track for sure....all of the racers in that area were the best.....also the S.A area race fans sure did love their racing at Hwy-16 oval track, but also the Drag strip that was right behind the front stretch grand stands as well..... "we don't know what we got, Till its gone...put up & pave a parking lot....." thanks SA Speedway for the good times in my life a very long time ago !!!!!!!!
