ASCS 360 Sprints Roll Into Historic Goliad

Recommended Posts

The link to Texas independence and Texas history runs deep in Goliad County with historic treasures abound. History will again be made in Goliad County at Shady Oaks Speedway as the ASCS 360 Sprint Cars thunder in for a Memorial Day Weekend spectacular. A first ever, the series will hit the Shady Oaks 3/8 mile tacky red clay on May 25th with a show that will take your breath away.

With speeds that will exceed 120 mph, don't blink or you may miss something spectacular as the near 800 horse power monsters take to the fastest high bank track in Texas. A track originally designed for Late Models, Shady Oaks Speedway will be just what the doctor ordered for speed enthusiansts. Track owners (Bobby, Rosemary, and Keith Stacy) are preparing for a very fast track. According to Rosemary "We're excited to host the first ever ASCS Sprint Car event to be held at Shady Oaks Speedway. Were working hard to prepare a track these drivers will love, and hope that this will generate so much fan interest that parking spills over to the Farm Road like days of old".

Current Gulf South Series points leader Ray Allen Kulhanek (a south of Houston shoe), who was also the 2012 series champ will be on hand to keep his momentum rolling. With one win thus far in the 2013 season, Kulhanek has been consistent with numberous top five finishes. In just 86 points behind Kulhanek, it is Aaron Ruetzel who hails out of Clute, Tx. Ruetzel who is no stranger to the winners circle, carries in two 2013 wins and several top fives as well.

Many other Gulf South Series regulars with a reputation for speed will be on hand such as Missouri City's Brandon Berryman, Highlands' Channing Tankersley, and The Woodlands' Tommy Bryant. But, this elite group of drivers is not limited to just the men. The 20 year old female shoe, Ms. Brandie Jass, who is a student at Blinn College will be mixing it up with the guys. Jass is in the Top 10 in series points and looking to have a solid run on the Shady Oaks clay.

Tell your friends and their friends and their friends to not miss this historic event as the ASCS 360 Sprints roll into Goliad on May 25th!!!

We're coming, better invest in some eye protection.......

Good advise. For those who haven't seen sprint cars, eye protection is highly recommended. Sprint Car tires can easily spin lots of debris thru and over any catch fence. :o

I always bring a pair of fashionably-lame shop glasses with clear lenses. B)
