I figured out a long time age that if someone does a blood sport (bullfighting, auto racing, mountain climbing, skydiving, boxing and so on) you don't have to explain why you race. If they don't do a blood sport, you can never explain it to them. One of my motorcycle racing buddies has a T-shirt that says, "If it can't kill you, it isn't a sport."
