supertx
With all the talk about crate engines I was wondering if anybody would be intrested in the Ford Focus midgets. To take it one step farther what about asphalt sprint cars? DISCLIAMER not trying to delute any of the other series just on a fact finding mission if anybody likes open wheel cars.
Josh42
I would love to race a Ford Focus Midget find a good chassis for about 8500 to 10000 and the motor costs i think in the 8000 range but thats better then spending 30,000 for a 4 cylinder gearte engine. Waco Racer
Those are great little cars. Their best features are the on board clutch and starter.
Budman
They are my very favorites Supertx .................... asphalt sprints and midgets.

SASPEEDRACER24
For some reason I remember midgets running at SAS once I think it was when I was young but cant remember might have been the Super Sprinters but iunno... I would love to see that type of open wheel racing at any of our tracks... Would be just another way to draw spectators... Only drawback is that its real expensive to bring in a show like that... But then again these days what isnt expensive lol...
97car
They were super sprints in the late 80's,it would give some more variety to the track.
97car
They did run some midget races at TDS the first year though, yes the kind with cars.
supertx
We ran super sprints in sas in 94 or 95 not sure but I think that Denny Burton won the race .Denny is T wade's crew chief.JMO I would rather see a USAC show than I would the ASA crate late model show. 97car
Tx you mean side by side racing without no rubbing and banging.
Budman
Amen to that 97car. All that beatin & bangin just ain't necessary for good racin'. Somewhere along the line, when they said beat your fellow competitor to the checkered flag, somebody took it as meanin' literally. Guess that all started about the same time they put fenders back on 'em.
Jason
The ASA show will give the local drivers a chance to compete against the big national guys. I would love to see a USAC race also but I think the ASA race helps out racing around here the most.
REBELRACER
asa or midget racing, either one will be better than those boring indy style cars that they raced at sas a few years ago...........that had to be the most boring waste of time ever.......... HORSEPOWER
Remember the Mexican Truck Series, maybe not? Heard the racing was good, but there was only 5 fans in the stands. I guess there was no promotion. I know there will be some support classes for the ASA race, but I wonder how many fans will show, do we need some more seating? REBELRACER
i thought that mexican truck race was rescheduled or something that time due to schedule conflict or weather or something like that...........maybe the second date wasn't promoted as heavy as the orginal........ Guest RandyBorlace
i think there was more like 12 people at the mexican truck race, i brought 6, it was cold out there
supertx
I think that it's great that locals will be able to run against the national guys.Maybe somebody can inlight me to some of the big names in ASA late models don't believe I know any of them. Now if USAC would come in sprints Dave Steel,Jay Drake ,Levi Jones Midgets you could see guys like Josh Wise,Jerry Coons,Dave Darling just to name a few.And don't forget the ones that came out of these cars and still ownes a few teams Tony Stewart,Jeff Gordon,Ryan Newman,J J Yeley and a few I can't remember.Seams like to me if you have a chance to move to the Pro status these are the cars that the new drivers are coming from.JMO. Jason
Thats why Erik Darnell, Matt McCall, Stephen Leicht, and Justin Dierks all got deals this past off season to move up and they came from LM's. Denny Hamlin also came from LM's. The path on getting to NASCAR is shifting from USAC and its about time. I bet we see more people get deals out of the CRATE series in the next few years. supertx
Jason I hope your right it would be like the old days where stock car drivers got the stock car rides and the open wheel guys got the indy car rides. What I here it really doesn't matter what you come from it's how big of check book you can bring to the table.
