  1. Now it is crystal clear why racing is dead in Texas. We are not ready for it.
  2. 27 Super Late Models in Wisconsin for the Joe Shear Classic, 33 Super Late Models in Nashville for the North/South Shootout and 30 Super Late Models in Vegas for the SRL. Racing is alive and doing well in many parts of the Country. There is no reason why it cannot do well in Texas. The economy here is on fire.
  3. It is the race team owner/drivers responsibility to fund their racing. One revenue stream of that is purse money. In racing, the main revenue stream comes from advertising or pimping products. It is not up to the race track to secure sponsors for race cars. I know tons of people who hunt as a hobby and they never get enough for that dear sausage to pay for that dear lease. I never make enough playing golf to fund my expenses either, but I dont blame the country club for it
  4. Yes, so there are a few more weeks to go hustle sponsors.
  5. Put on your sales hat, go shine up your car, take pics and get sponsors to cover the costs of your racing, It is really that simple. The race purse is never enough to cover the costs are is only a portion of the available revenue streams to an owner.
  6. Nascar errs on the side of caution. There are some things that on on the substance abuse list that are beneficial as long as they are not being abused. Sometimes, they just have to take action to insure that something is not being abused. I can tell you this, their alcohol volume is .02. This alone would probably fail about 50% of the local racers. http://www.espn.com/racing/nascar/story/_/id/23394501/an-overview-nascar-substance-abuse-policy
  7. That a great turnout. The Hotrod guys always show. That is why they build their cars, to show. Circle Track racers build them to race and usually wont support car shows.
  8. No sir, I am not wrong. I have been there, seen it, done it. But, do whatever, I was just trying to help.
  9. Let me tell you a trick. Asking racers to take their racecar anywhere for a show is usually met with few takers, if any at all. Here is how you do it. You get online, see who is racing in the area and take note of the sponsors of the top running cars. Then, you call the sponsor and say "I noticed that you sponsor a car racing at XXX track. I wanted to give you the opportunity to display your car at xxx elementary school and be the exclusive ___Car dealer___, Auto Parts, Pizza Joint, etc. " . Whatever their industry is, offer them an exclusive. When the guy paying the bills calls, the boys will load and go. This has worked great in the past. Go to the money, not the guys who spend it. I hope this helps, the racers probably wont like it. Oh well........
  10. The gouging on the hotels has been there forever. The only thing that has changed is that Social Media wasnt around then for everyone to complain about it and dwell on the negatives. Who cares what it costs, what is $300 anyway. You cant take it with you. Too many people would rather spend $900 on a Iphone so they can get on social media bash away at something they cant afford
  11. Heck yea, I would go for that. In any sport, the chicks sell man. That is something that does not change. The guys with cash go crazy spending money on good looking chicks. Maybe Danica could enhance her looks and do an enhanced tour.
  12. Roger that. The best time to go is when there is no crowds. I mean, drunk guys spilling beer on you is fun, but it is fine to attend a race without it too. Everyone can have 2 seats then, one for you and one for your ice chest It makes no sense saying people dont go because noone is there. How do you know noone is there unless you go? Just like noone watches the races anymore, but they all have comments on how to change them. How do they know what to change if they are not watching?
  13. Actually, i do no go to the track to watch people in the stands. But I did read where the estimated attendance was 35,000. I did see lots of great racing though. That is what it is all about.
  14. I know a little about it. I know Nascar signed an $8.2 billion dollar tv deal and the tracks get 65% of that, the team owners get 25% via the purse and Nascar gets 10%. A lot of the tracks are owned by the Nascar family do I doubt they are screwing themselves. So, how could Nascars greed effect attendance?
  15. Yes, it says Nascars sales people are pretty smart. The had a good run, did nothing wrong. Old folks who were their customers are dying. We still get to watch it on TV, so enjoy it. It isnt going anywhere. Has a dirt series land an 8 billion dollar deal yet?
  16. Nascar landed a 8.2 Billion dollar tv deal. That is probably more than any of us will ever do. I am not so sure they did or are doing anything wrong. Everything changes, farmers used to use mules to plow the field. I did not quit eating because they went to tractors.
  17. In a serious question, what exactly are you referring to as Nascar greed?
  18. Fair enough, I cant stand dirt racing but I dont get on those threads and blast away at them.
  19. Well, I dont like dirt racing, so be it. It is like comparing pop warner football to the NFL
  20. yes, weather was a problem, but also, 30% of a 160,000 seat stadium is still lots of people. And I agree, Clint wasnt using his best judgment on his comments. He should not be tweeting that in his million dollar motorhome

  22. Yes, you are correct. The race fans are dying. No other way to put it. If the truth is known, the racers and fans are the ones responsible for the decline in interest. The internet has changed everything, including perception. Most of staring at Iphones all day and dont have time to go to the track. So we can either sell our younger generation on the sport so they will support it or kick em while they are down.
  23. The race was really interesting. Haters going to hate. Nascar has done a whole lot to make the racing better and have accomplished that. A lot has changed, but it is easy to kick someone when they are down, or you can reach down and help pick them up. By the way, there are teams showing up in 30' haulers making the show and racing. There are more here complaining about no being able to do that on here than racing. Get off of your couch and keyboard, go get a cup car and race.
