  1. Looking forward to being able to catch this race tomorrow night.

I would also like to mention that with the issues surrounding racing at HMP and asphalt racing in Southeast Texas, or Texas in general, I find it nothing short of incompetance that nothing has been posted on this forum in regards to this race since Nicks last post on the 20th. Not a good look for the folks managing this new deal. Not everyone has facebook, and some of the ones that don't have facebook have money to spend. Those people should be using every avenue there is to get the word out.

  2. You should have already assummed that that race was leaving TMS, no matter where it ended up. And if they don't start putting fans in the grandstands for the fall race, the only race they are left with, it will be gone to. Don't get me wrong, I will be at the fall race in a couple of weeks. But there have been attendance problems up in Ft. Worth for quite awhile now.

And you are correct about Dale Jr., at the very least he has Marcus Smith's ear. But I don't think Wilkesboro gets revived without that big government grant that they got. That completely changed the economics of it.

We just want $1 hot dogs and $1 beer

The 1.00 hotdog and beer days were good days. I didn't really drink the 1.00 beers very often, I would take a empty small soft sided cooler, and they would fill it with beers from the stand and ice it down for me. Always had cold beer.

    No

And the address now is lake Houston Parkway, but if my memory serves me, it was E. Mt. Houston Rd back then, I think. Also back when Big H was dirt, Battleground Speedway was real popular and thriving as well.

  5. Sure would be nice to see HMP get something going. Such a nice facility to sit empty on the oval side. Been going there since it was dirt. But when John and Sarah ran it it was a special place from this fans perspective anyway.

Cotton Bowl is definitely a good place to go lately. If we were closer, I'd make more trips there myself.

It was a great night of racing up there. It’s just a nice, well run place. And the racing was off the charts.

Rails, man it sounds like a real race car should, deep throaty sound at time just flat ass loud. Love that exhaust system, cool to see flames when they let out of the throttle too.

Old car pitch was higher, this one is awesome. Sounded bas ass at COTA when they were on the backside and you could hear them coming.

I had heard that they sounded a little different due to the different exhaust set up.

I will be at the fall race, then I will leave there on that Monday and make my way to Arkansas to get a little work done to my motorhome then on to Talladega for the following race.

I got and email from TMS today on the 2023 renewal for the All Star Race. So maybe it isn't going anywhere next year.

  8. I'm not sure where it will end up. I will keep going and support the track when I can. And hope for the best. I will be there this fall.

Rodney I don't know that I am convinced that the Nashville deal will go through. Seems like there is still a fair amount of local pushback. And now you have the North Wilksboro deal in play. Be interesting to see what they do with it next year.

  9. I wasn’t able to go or even watch due to work. But glad to hear they had some people show up. I think I have mentioned it before, I still think this race is gone. I think it was a bone NASCAR threw to SMI to move a date to Austin. Hope I’m wrong, but we will see. My buddy that I camp with in the fall up there said there was a pretty decent crowd.

I have to wait a few weeks to renew my fall package up there. They are building some new open air bars at the track. Have to wait and see how many seats they lose because of it first.

  10. I’m not so sure that Joe Gibbs may be laughing all the way to the bank on this deal. I suspect that his race team may supplying everything to 2311. All the way down to the pit crews. And I would also bet that Toyota is funding a large portion of it as well.

Look around, this is how we race now.

This atatement above unfortunately happens to be true. And it is disappointing to see. Was not one attempt to make a pass for the win this past sunday.
