Very valid point.....Just the way it has split up some of the drivers is not encouraging to longevity of one of the two big Sprint Car series.....Reminds me of the 80's when the split between WoO and USA happened and it split the drivers up....But WoO survived that deal and slowly rebuilt the Sprint Car numbers despite some butt hurt feelings among drivers/car owners.

I agree, with all the success WoO has had over the years, the high limit deal appears to be a very formidable deal. I typically believe when things of this nature takes place, it is usually born out of animosity. I’m curious to know what that was.

That was pretty much the rumor going 'round...But ya, a day(or so) late for Owen/STRR though....As I mentioned in another thread it's basically what High Limits Sprint Series did with ASCoC last year. Now as for why Emmett Hahn took it back, there's a lot of "interesting" stuff(rumors) there, but they do fit the circumstances pretty well.

I’m curious to see what WoO looks like in a year or 2 after high limit really gets established. I feel that in a year or 2 high limit is going to have some nice stacked purse money.

First off, I was an Austin Hill fan before this.  The disaster more his fault than Creeds.   I understand Richard Childress and Andy Petree have every right to be upset, but the way they handled it was uncalled for.   Sheldon Creed was racing for his life and that is what he is supposed to do.  It is not his fault he is not managements choses one.   I cant imagine any driver worth a crap that would go to RCR after this circus.  POP POP may be down to putting Ty Dillon back in one of his junk cars

I am not defending Hill or Creed, probably safe to say there is/was enough blame to spread around between both drivers on that deal. But there is probably a couple of hundred thousand reasons for Childress to be upset. And that in itself may give him the right to respond how he chooses. And I don't consider Childress's Xfinity program to be junk. They race for titles within that program. Say what you will about the Cup side, but the xfinity stuff has always been pretty good.

  4. I'm pretty sure Childress is well within his right to be a little jacked up over that deal. 2 of his cars running 1 and 2, neither one of them win. One of the cars is going to have to be winched on the hauler. Neither one of them advance to the round of 4 to race for a title. At the end of the day they race for titles, trophies, and money, that sequence of events there nixed a title, a trophy, and first and 2nd place pay window money, and i'm sure a bunch of money as well on end of year finishing order.

I'm a long-time FB user and have nothing against the platform.  But it's an absolutely horrible outlet if you want to do a quick skim of multiple tracks to get a feel for what is going on.  Track management likes it because it's a one-stop place to put information for all their audiences (racers, track workers, sponsors, fans).  They don't have to segment their communications.  That works for someone who is mostly dedicated to one track and hangs on the edge of their seat for every scrap of information from that track.

But if you are a fan who has disconnected from, or never wanted to be connected to all the minutia, and wants to skim the tracks within driving range for high level info, it's highly inefficient.  A friend asked me the source of the news about Cotton Bowl.  It took me a long time to find it.

People might say "Well, if you were a real fan......blah, blah".  You know what?  There are hundreds of messages competing for my eyeballs.  There are maybe six tracks I would like to monitor.  But if they want my eyeballs, the info has to be easy to find.  It is hard enough to screen out the crap I don't want from people looking for me without taking additional time to look for what should be looking for me but isn't.

Let me turn this around - What about "Well, if you were a promoter.....".   The word promoter used to have a meaning that related to promotion.  The only promoters I can recall off the top of my head have been Mandelbach and Gina.  Now it is a glorified term for Track Operator.  The attitude seems to be that people will beat a path to their track (when they haven't before) just because they are now the operator.

How hard would it be to also paste some of the big picture items from the FB page onto Speedzone at the same time it's put on FB?    Here, the format makes it very easy to focus on what you care about vs. what you do not.

Well said, but I would like to add, if you think as a promoter you are putting out the information to all involved on the Facebook, that couldn’t be further from reality.

Now that you mention John, the place was well cared for during that stretch. It was magical, done well enough they had a pretty decent radio ad budget. Good times back then. I think Mr Owen will bring stability to the place. That’s what it needs for a couple years then it will explode.

  6. That’s a very promising interview right there. The place is in desperate need a stability. It’s seem it may have showed up midway into this season. When HMP was in the able and capable hands of John M, it was an electric place to go to the races. With full fields of trucks and modifieds, and good car counts across the rest of the classes.

I was only able to make 2 races there this season, and am out of town for work right now and won’t make this weekend. But I can appreciate Mr Owens desire to not over saturate the schedule. Just stabilize it and it will take off, I’ve seen it before there.

I've about taken the stance  - If they don't care if I know, I don't care if I go.

Call me jaded, I don't care.  It is what it is.

I can understand that. I have no idea how many people log onto this forum. I don’t do the face book deal, but it seems to me this would be a simple universal spot to throw some information on about the upcoming activities at any given track.

    "how have y'all missed this?

Well, somebody had to be the first to post it on here for us to know about it, and that somebody was you!  I think promoters think everyone is on F@#!Book (I have little/no interest in being on that) and these forums seem to be somewhat neglected these days as far as news.

The series is good news.  The big news (to my mind), barely alluded to in the video, is Mary Ann may not be running Cotton Bowl next year.  Whatever happens there - I hope it is the long-term best interest of keeping the track open.

This particular forum is completely neglected by the promoters. It’s unreal.

He runs several classes and always up front. Shane Hebert has done pretty much everything possible in Modified and Late Model racing too. That was a stacked field for sure. Maupin is fun to watch and so was Bobby in his racing days. Nice people on top of their driving skills.

105 was packed Saturday night. They had a pretty lengthy delay to get the racing started, the ambulance had to take a spectator off the grounds for some sort of treatment. Had to wait for it to get back on the grounds. So it turned into a bit of a long night. They have a pretty good sized grandstand in the pit area, it was full as well as the main grandstand. Track was in perfect shape to start the races for as hot and dry as it is up here.

Jared is another young racer following in his fathers(Bobby) footsteps....I see him a lot at I-37, running sometimes in 3 classes...... The kid is fast in anything he gets in.....In 2022 he took home a lot of hardware at the I-37 awards banquet.

Well he was on rails Saturday night. After the limited race, they stopped all the cars that finished the feature on the front stretch, and all the drivers got out and did a group photo with Howard Willis. The 91 parked close to where I was sitting and I could tell he was a pretty young fella.

the thing that surprised me the most is that when you have that many cars show up in one class, that creates a pretty stout field top to bottom in the A Main. It was an impressive run he had for sure.

In a short amount of time Jared Maupin has built quite a resume. And not only in one class. I've seen a lot of races and I'll say it now. Maupin will be the next big thing from Texas if he wants to be.The number 91 will be with the numbers 89 and 87 in Texas racing elites.

Arob I haven’t seen him race probably as much as you have, but I have seen him race a couple different classes at Cotton Bowl. But the run he made Saturday through that stout of a field was fun to watch. The track was really rubbered up when they ran their feature, and he had that 91 hooked up on the bottom of the track. Looks like he might be pretty young as well?

Of all the races I've seen lap cutting doesn't happen very often. I have to say most of the ones they cut fans were begging to end it so we could move on to the next race! Race Ranch started the season with single file restarts and I hated them. Lately they have gone  back to double file unless they can't get started after two tries. Much better.

I don’t remember it happening up there in the past. Happened last time I was up there. But there are pulling a bunch of cars as well these days. May have something to do with it. But I’m a double file restart guy myself. And I like the fact that the scoring pylon and lap counter works at 105.
