An Old Dirt Modified

This car raced as #401 at Oak Hill Downs, a 1/4 mi dirt track southwest of Austin in the early 50's. My first conscious memory of ANYTHING is standing in the seat of this car, leaning forward with hands on the wheel, in my parent's back yard. I must have been about 3 at the time. Maybe that's what has made me such a avid race fan through all these years. The date on the photo is 1951.

Chris, That is the track that was located at the entrance to Motorola at the end of Willian Cannon.

My dad claimed never to have driven it, so I left it at that. I always wondered though, if he just said that for my mom's benefit. Ordinarily, Bill Jenkins drove it. Don Fowler won a feature in it on at least one occasion.

Small world. I raced at Oak Hill around 1961. Lotsa fun on the dirt.
