Don't want to clutter up the board with past races. Aren't you glad they keep me around here? LMAOOOOOOOO

Modified A-main

With the field of 120 cars pared down through 3 nights of heats, C-mains, B-mains and A-qualifiers, the fastest 24 cars of the weekend started the 50 lap, $5000 to win A-Main on the 1/4 mile clay track with Scott Drake and George White on the front row. G. White was first into turn 1 and led back to line with Drake along side. Howard Willis and Brandon Smith were wheel to wheel for third as there was plenty of two wide racing in the pack. Keith White broke the distributor on lap 3 and rolled to the infield. Willis moved beside Drake for third, behind Smith and G. White.

The top five were starting to edge away from the pack by lap 5, with Derek Knowles and Johnny Bone jr side by side for sixth. Drake and Jason Hughes ran door to door for fourth with Knowles and Bone still running dead even. Willis began pressuring Smith for second on lap 8, and was able to make the move stick on lap 10. G. White had a two car length advantage, but Willis quickly closed in towing Smith in his wake.

Bone and Drake then locked up in a fight for fifth on lap 12. G. Whites' chance at the win went up in sparks as he broke and rolled to stop on lap 13, handing the lead to Willis. Hughes got around Smith on the restart, with the field staying two wide back through the pack. The yellow flew again on lap 16 when Greg Waugh broke and stopped in turn 2. Eddie Martin pulled off under the caution.

Now the fun started, with Willis on the bottom and Hughes on top the two began their 34 lap battle for the win. Lawrence Mikulencak passed both Bone and Steve Majek to grab fifth on lap 19. Willis and Hughes were side by side on lap 20, with Hughes getting the slight advantage on lap 21 and 22. Undaunted Willis charged back getting a bumper ahead to lead laps 23 and 24. As the crossed flags were shown it Hughes getting the point again, Willis, Smith, Drake and Bone.

Willis retook the top spot on lap 26 and gained a little breathing room, a ½ car length, on lap 28. Lap 32 saw a three wide battle for sixth with Chris Brown, Mikulencak and Elias Anderson. At lap 35 the lead duo were still together, with ½ straight lead over Smith, while Bone and Drake still slugged it out for fourth.

The lead duet were again side by side as they hit traffic on lap 38. Willis was forced to go three wide around two lap cars, while Hughes got into the back of Jamie Burford. This gave Willis a two car advantage with 10 to go. Willis increased the lead to 5 car lengths on lap 43, but Hughes closed back in with five to go.

On lap 46 Willis got hung up behind Randy Timms, allowing Hughes to get along side, with the duo wheel to wheel at the line. With 2 to go Hughes was able to make the final pass for the lead as he hung on to take the hard earned victory in his West Siloam Pawn/South 10th Auto Parts/Rainbow Graphics/Powersource Race Engines/Maxwell Oil/Zarmora Racing Heads/Bartell Motorsports/DeLeon Auto Accessories/Aero Wheels/Hughes Chassis.

With Willis out front, Gene Boyter battled side by side with Garza for second, with Boyter making the pass on lap 6. Lap 7 saw Keith Burnett get by Mike Haddox for fifth.

By lap 10 Willis was running off from the field, while Boyter and Garza held a good lead over Terry McCommas, David Kulhanek and Ray Kulhanek. D. Kulhanek got around McCommas on lap 12 for fourth. At the halfway point it was Willis, in another zip code, Boyter, Garza, D. Kulhanek and McCommas. D. Kulhanek got by Garza for third on lap 17 and moved along side Boyter for second. Willis got a wake up call on lap 18 when a lap car ran him up the track but the veteran was able to recover without losing much ground.

D. Kulhanek was able to move past Boyter on lap 18 as well. With 10 to go Willis had a full straightaway lead, while D. Kulhanek, Burnett and a lap car went three wide. Burnett was the big loser getting pushed out the pit exit, Kulhanek suffered damage and rolled to a stop on track to bring out the yellow on lap 22. Garza pulled off under caution giving second to Boyter.

Brent Cargel got by McCommas on the restart for third, but McCommas reclaimed the spot on lap 23. With five to go Willis was checking out again, with McCommas and Boyter battling for second.
