Mini sway bar bushing

Ford27

Recommended Posts

We got a dq for an aftermarket bushings on our ford escort sway bar. problem is ford does not make replacement bushings. junk yard bushings are already bad and autoparts stores just sell aftermarket bushings. So does anyone know where to get a good stock bushing? This class is going downhill fast and we will probably ditch it like a few others but I would like to finish the year before we quit.

WHAT YEAR IS THE ESCORT...........THAT'S ONE BAD PART ABOUT THIS CLASS .. IF YOU CANT FIND STOCK REPLACEMENT PARTS ..WHAT DO YOU DO ..PARK IT LOSE YOUR INVESTMENT .OR FIX IT WITH WHAT IS OUT THERE ...AND GET A D;Q ....MAKES IT HARD ..MAKES YOU WANT TO STAY WITH A CLASS YOU CAN CONTROL THE PARTS .. ..BUT COST ALOT MORE ..[[ BTW I WORK IN AUTO PARTS ...SO I KNOW ALOT OF PARTS ARE NOT AVALABLE.]] .TRACKS HAVE A LEARNING CURVE ALONG WITH THE OWNERS ON THIS .....YOU BUY A CAR .MOST OF EM ARE WORN PLUM OUT .THATS WHY YOU GET IT CHEAP .AND HAVE TO SPEND MORE IF YOU CAN FIND THE PARTS TO KEEP LEGAL WITH FACTORY PARTS THAT SOMETIMES YOU CANT FIND .THAT HURTS BOTH THE TRACK WITH LOST OF CAR AND DRIVER WITH A LOST ..FOR DRIVER A WASTE OF A SEASON ..WHERE MY SON RACES ..THE TRACK DECIDES IF IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND HAS GIVEN THE DRIVERS TIME TO REPAIR AND MAKE YOUR CASE ...HAPPEND TO US THIS YEAR .COST SOME MONEY TO REPLACE TO A TUNE OF NEARLY $200 ..WE COULD NOT REPLACE JUST THE COUPLE OF LITTLE PARTS ..SO HAD TO REPLACE ALL PARTS RELATED TO THAT AREA .[WE WERE OUT FOR A FEW WEEKS .THANKS TO A SPONSOR COMING ON BOARD. ].. NOT GOOD IF WE COULD NOT FIND THE PARTS ..... .ATLEAST THE OPTION WAS LEFT UP TO US BY THE TRACK . .COMMON SENSE PLAYED BY BOTH PARTIES...

ALL bushings are "aftermarket" given that Ford buys them - does not make them in house (Moog supplies most of Fords) - there are OEM (black rubber) and Performance (black blue yellow red or orange polyurethane).

Post a pic of the offending bushings, links and installation (were both bushings and both links the stock length? Was all rubber? How did the TI spot the difference?)...

Ford Parts Call out 5a486 (1996 escort) is Moog end kit 7305 - reboxed to Motorcraft...

Ford # 5493 is Moog 8410.

If in fact this is what you installed by all means get the offending part and the Ford motorcraft part side by side and file a protest to get your points!!!
