rebelracewriter Posted March 31, 2004 Report Share Posted March 31, 2004 Texas Motor Speedway Media Relations, (817) 215-8520 CONTACT: Sarona Winfrey Gary Guehler -- For Immediate Release LARGEST ENTRY LISTS OF NASCAR NEXTEL CUP, BUSCH SEASONS READY FOR TEXAS FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 30, 2004) – The largest fields of the 2004 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series seasons are ready to invade the Lone Star State for this weekend’s Samsung/RadioShack 500 and O’Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway. The entry list for the Samsung/RadioShack 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race numbered 48 teams as of March 29. The O’Reilly 300 NASCAR Busch Series entry list has also been released and includes 54 teams. The number of entries tied the amount at Daytona’s Busch Series season opener that also drew 54. The entry lists are subject to change, addition or deletion. Thursday’s Busch Pole Qualifying and Friday’s Bud Pole Qualifying on O’Reilly Qualifying Days at the speedway will pare the entry lists to the 43-car starting fields for each race. “The entry lists for the Samsung/RadioShack 500 and O’Reilly 300 indicate the importance that the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series teams place on competing at Texas,” said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. “The fans will be treated to outstanding days of practice and qualifying that will produce top-flite starting fields for the Samsung/RadioShack 500 and the O’Reilly 300.” Speedway action kicks off Thursday with the O’Reilly Qualifying Day gates opening at noon, Busch Series practice at 12:15 p.m. and Busch Pole qualifying runs at 4 p.m. The spectator admission gates will open at 10 a.m. Friday with Nextel Cup practice at 11:20 a.m. Bud Pole Qualifying will begin at 3:10 p.m. Tickets for O’Reilly Qualifying Days, good for both days of practice and qualifying, are available nationwide at all O’Reilly Auto Parts locations.
