TRP
Texana Raceway Park is making plans to implement the Raceiver system in 2009 for all classes except Mini Stocks and Hot Stock Trucks. This system is also being implemented by Houston Raceway Park in 2009 and we have already held discussions to make certain we use a compatible system, so drivers can use their Raceiver when they travel. This is the wave of the future to help move racing programs along, and other tracks are investigating this as well. You'll see more and more tracks moving to this device. What is a Raceceiver? Basically, it is a one way listening device for drivers when in competition that consists of a receiver and ear plugs. The primary track personnel directing the event has a headset with two speaking buttons (one to talk to track personnel on a certain frequency, and one to talk to the drivers on a different frequency). If you attended any of the USMTS races at Texana in November, you could see just how this equipment assisted in very quickly relining the cars after cautions and it was very visible just how quick the events moved along. Also, this will be a safety improvement for track personnel in not having to enter the track with the board to reline the field after caution, and should be an added safety feature by communicating urgent information to drivers. Texana Raceway Park will be purchasing the main hardware for the track, and drivers will purchase their receivers, which they will own. The cost is around the $100 range. Again, this will be a device that drivers can take with them to other tracks and this is something that you will hear more and more tracks moving to. More information to be posted on this forum as it becomes available.
rebelracewriter
They also use these at TMS Dirt Track during their big events. They work great for getting re-line ups done quickly, efficiently and safely.

poorboy
Most drivers know where to go. it's the ones driving aroung aimlessly not knowing where to go that cause tracks to go to Raceivers.

Racer '77
This is going to be helpful in so many aspects of the racing nights. Number 1: Safety, It has happened so many times that we are under caution and officials are on the track and people still hauling @ss around the track to catch up with the group, and almost run over our officials. Also we can communicate to the drivers when a caution is on the racetrack. Since some of them cant see past they're hoods. 2: Time: we can get the cars lined up quicker after a restart, and if a couple of the drivers are arguing as to where they belong we can tell them they're positions, and call the lineup to them. we can also communicate when we will be going green. Also if a Red light condition occurs we can talk to the drivers and tell them to stop and wait for emergency personel to get to the driver in need, thus cutting down on response time and keeping everyone safer. Way to go Texana! This is what it takes to move ahead. Looking forward to another great season!

TRP
We are expecting all of the hardware to arrive on March 13th. If that happens, we will have a good supply of the drivers raceivers that can be sold at the first practice on the 14th. Would be good to get this out of the way before opening night. As a reminder, this product is the same that HRP will be using so it will be universal for both tracks. This will be required in 2009 for all classes except Mini-Stocks and Hot Stock Trucks. Bruce does plan to have some rental units available, where you would get the earphones which you would keep and check the hardware back in with the track at the end of a night. But if you're going to run more than a couple of times, it will be more cost effective for you to purchase units and you'll have them for other tracks or USMTS events. I think everyone is going to be very pleased with this technology after the first use. -Monty
TRP
The Raceceivers are in. The track will have the latest version, the Y1600 Elite, along with the better 90 degree foam insert earbuds. The track will have the raceceiver and earbud package for $115. There is no requirement to purchase this directly from the track if someone would prefer to purchase elsewhere. It can be purchased from the manufacturer or other outlets, but the cheapest I've found for new product elsewhere is $125, and the earbuds are not as high quality as the ones the track chose. As a reminder, this is the same product HRP will be using this year, USMTS uses and other tracks are considering to use. It is pretty universal and can be used most anywhere. As a side note, they can be used to listen in by fans or others if someonone would find that of use, but it will not be as entertaining as NASCAR as this is one-way communication to the drivers. The track will have these available at practices and thereafter. thx - Monty
