In the scheme of things track size shouldn't be an issue for you asphalt dudes. 1/4 mile may wrinkle some bodies but from what I saw at SAS a good wreck wrinkles up frames. Bodies are easier to repair and alot less down time and expense thenframes.

agree.....a good laid out 1/4 mile makes a great track ..my son me and so many have raced three wide at cc and that track isn't that wide .cc use to be the fastest 1/4 mile in the world and was so for many a year ..some of the best racers big named racer raced at cc ….it really comes down to the talent of racers ..

a short track finds out who the best is . a low budget team can win from the back . I was very low budget at cc and won a few races from the back .just had to work on getting through the turns over the money motors with  new tires every week and me running those hand me down tires .. that is why I think a short track is perfect  for sa ..

 WELL I have to agree with nick .

WHY did my name show up /lol....    we still have a pro sedan  and with most likely building a new dirt car .the old 7 we are racing now is still mostly set up for paved wont take much to change over . if they can make it wide that would help .. one of cc biggest problem was needing new expensive asphalt .... hope they build and you know they wont have problems getting cars . bullrings are fun ..

oh heck fresca drink hot toothpicks  real custer ice cream   I miss my 68 charger 66 gto .65 corvair  44 international pick her up  with my gun rack loaded with my springfield  bolt action 30.30 and my  12 gauge .my old Cushman my  750 triump . my mom ,dad , uncles  my grand parents . thunderbird picture show .hi way 9 bowling alley .with the city limits just a few blocks from there ..Christmas and shopping down town .sears on leopard  wanting so bad to own a allstate motor bike . crossing the pontoon bridge .riding up and down the lift bridge and fishing under it .shopping at woolco at park dale plaza . crying during old yeller and jumping out of my pants at the end of carrie .... licking green stamps yuck .brown paper bags , shell bakery  .buying model cars at winns . and mowing very large yards for 2 dollars using my bike to pull it along  working at the aster from 68 to 71 with my mom . pride in our moon landers . boy scouts selling bags of peanuts during the buc days  troop 172 ...north beach .and going to cc speedway though all those early 60s on . ..and one last one  .charlies motor cycle shop .building is still standing ....I say it to todays young .they will never live and enjoy a life like we had ..and I wished they could ..

I suppose you know frank hoch went on to manage cc speedway for many years till he died . he jumped my bones when the antheum was playing I could not  hear it he said next time I would find myself on the ground . worked with him over many years painting fixing walls and any other things needed at the track  worked the pit gate for 5 bucks and a hamburger the year terry started racing with rapp dub and jarret rollins  slick monte Nichols jr and i worked with monte sr later in my years at howl refinery .he welded right along side of my dad ...Dalton McCain ...and helped me with my rearend my first year of racing ,so many of those names you mentioned I heard of or know em ...thanks for posting .. lewis bogus ford . wow haven't heard that in a very long time ..sure miss picks ...

 Don't know where my neighbor bought his corner night lights for his house I am going to ask him they are very bright day light at night led I think .. a thought to me would be the lights I would want when I have to change mine out in the garage . I have three  old 8 footers now from an old autozone building that work great but are really old plus I have about 150 spare light bulbs for em so as long as they work I wont change em .... I would say 4 to six of em would light up that building ..plus I would paint the building frame white that would help a lot

my neighbor  informed me the other day his dad was the first person to build a track  in corpus back in I think 1929 .he still has a flyer from that track and is going to try and find it .. he has a lot of old stuff through the early years of racing I was told ..I saw the program from cc speedway when terry labonte started racing . he misplaced it but when he finds it ill share it and others he said to have own. I just got to keep kicking the old mule to make him look ..

DONT go into a corner and use the lead for a brake ..

The female drivers who have a chance of making  it up to the top have spent many years behind the wheel racing stock car and have a better understanding of what it takes to handle a stock car .Danica did not come through that crop of racing .. not saying she didn't have the talent  she just didn't have the learning curve growing up  a   driver needs  to have in stock cars .Danica needed to race just about everything she could if she wanted or sponsors and team would put her in . dirt ,trucks you get the picture  .. I say the future of nascar  female drivers  coming up through the system looks very bright ...

I am color blind  when it comes to race of people  till they throw the race card at me  or use as an excuse..so I say its ok with me they all bleed red .. .whats with the several white dudes comment looks racist to me ...lol.

I am with arob  few things from what I saw she can drive .I know their are other female drivers I have heard of but haven't really seen them racing ..I don't watch much racing on tv anymore ..boring ..... but who ever it is  I hope it is because they have earned it behind the wheel and not just another two piece suit posing in front of a what 57 chevy ..see I don't care how good looking  racers are how nice a female looks more so I want respectful honest down to earth hard charging racers who love the sport of racing for what it is meant to be . . I miss the dirty faces sweaty look that nascar drivers use to look like  .I don't think drivers today could  hold a candle to running in cars of our pass 50 60 70s and even 80 drivers ... I still look for a hair out of place  just one would be nice when a driver climbs out after a  500 mile race ..

Sounds like racing once a rule is broken and nothing is done about it others will follow in your case it worked out for you ,keep sending photos as you go ..

was that listed in your deed ..  my neighbor who has owned her house sense 1963 .planted a oak tree on her side of course .one year ago someone bought the house right next to that tree and razed hell a bout the limbs hanging near her drive way  so she cut em  this tree was 30 feet tall min and could not touch her roof .. did not matter that new owner kept complaining till this 95 year old neighbor spent $2500 a deal for that size of tree to take it down  a perfect tree ..I mention to the neighbor she should thank this lady for spending that amount to make her happy ..she just said so what the tree is gone is all I wanted ...me I would have left it standing ...

just tell the neighbors it is going to have one hell of a bbq pit just inside the doors and they are invited .that may shut em up ..why they complaining?  ...

well that s good to know rick was human .I only ran that one race in tps and I never got comfortable I scared myself every lap  in three and four  going in through or exit ..turn one I loved it turn two you better hit the exit right or spin or hit the wall that appeared  to come at you  but fun track ..had a fast car handle wise just rookie driver and a fuel issue .still finished third so wasn't all that bad I guess ...;;;

 I know there or many drivers who have much larger scares than me . john Kelly  comes to mind didn't he land out in the parking lot .

WE ran the arc in 06 tps race only cuz the car was tight in the heat race and no more practice .I ask the driver if he would throw something of his hint hint  out the window and try that diamond arc .boy he put a trust in me hoping I fixed that car other wise junk going home ..he pulled the dust off the walls up there and won the race ..you were right it helped with the rpms and that let him get a good run off the turn ...the next race everyone else moved up ....the other thing he told me going into those turns did not help his brakes all .they did not slow the car down with having to drive into the turns further ...scared him ..

WOW  this just shows how fast time flies the thread started many years ago and only seems like yesterday ....

Well there you go and make some of us feel down and out  all I have is a two car garage and the wife owns half of that .go figure ...now just so I feel good bout something I do have a 10 by 12 shed ,. storage building .out house, crap holder ,barn what ever you want to call it  seems the cats and other animals love to live under ,planning on moving around the other side of my house so I can make noise at night with out the lady next door mad as hell .cant park a car inside but hey cant win everything.......

AFTER Richard petty did his bad flipping the insurance told frank the catch fence had to be razed four feet and curved out and cable had to strung through the lower parts ..

.now anyone who knew frank had to stand back alittle as to keep from getting hit he could not talk with out swinging his head and arms back and forth and he was really lit up

after hearing the news .me walter and someone else may have been dick lunstrum were sitting in the stands looking at what had to be done and frank shook his head and said wont open this year the whole damn fence has to come down ..I pointed out just cut the top off and add what is needed .he said nope . so we went over to tipps to eat and a few racers were there .frank stood up said he had an idea ..why not cut the top off and add what is needed ..what do yah think .I laughed and said great ideal frank . the fence is still there ..mel I had those paint brushes more than once .. added I only ever saw frank get really mad and it was me he was mad at .I did not hear the star bangle banner being played .he saw me walking and tore into me like no other ..that was one mistake you did not want to do around him ...

Top shelf I like your dad have too many memories that wont pop up till something is said to bring them back .I never told my story like I just did before too any one ,arob along with many others from that era . my bet is your dad has not even touched the memories and stories he has hidden ...some day sadly you and my son will go through the same memory process and tell your kids and friends or anyone . I know its boring to some and means nothing but it will mean something to you something no one can take away .some say you live in the past for the most part they are correct means your alive . and yes and its great ..
