rebelracewriter
For Immediate Release/Your Information Sept. 21, 2005 From Bill Martin, IMCA Public Relations (319) 472-2201, x225 National race for Jeff's Southern SportMods switched to one day format Friday at HOT WACO, Texas (Sept. 21) Another ill wind blowing from the Gulf Coast has prompted a switch in plans for this weekend's Jeff's Performance IMCA Southern SportMod national event at Heart O' Texas Speedway. With Hurricane Rita taking aim at the Lone Star State, the entire program will be held Friday night, Sept. 23 and pay $1,000 to win. The event remains the final points race of the 2005 IMCA season, also a factor in the decision not to reschedule later this month or October. "We don't want to try to run a two day show of this magnitude, get rained out and not be able to reschedule it," explained IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. "With our point season coming to an end, and with late season specials already scheduled, the switch to a one day show was our best option." Twenty-four cars will make up the starting grid for Friday's feature, which pays a minimum of $100 to start. All non-qualifiers get $75. Entry fee and pit passes are both $25. Gates open at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. on Friday. More information is available by calling (254) 829-2294 or at the www.heartotexaspeedway.com website.
