rebelracewriter
15 cars started the IMCA Modified A-main, with George Egbert unable to make the call after flipping and doing an endover in his heat race. And he thought the Mid-East was tough. G. Egbert was uninjured in the wreck. JD Schlies and Chris Renegar paced the field to green, but before one lap was complete, points leader Keith White went Pop/Bang and rolled to a stop on the backstretch. Finally under green Sclies got the early lead with Danny Gribble and John Blann battling side by side for second until Gribble spun. John Blann got by Schlies to grab the point on lap 3 bringing Glen Allen along to second. Allen and Blann ran side by side for the lead with Allen getting the spot on lap 5. PJ Egberet and Ben Ketteman moved by Blann, while a three wide battle was on for 7th. Blann broke and stopped to bring out a caution on lap 7. As Egbert and Ketteman battled door to door on the restart, Allen was struggling with a deflating left front tire. Egbert closed in and ran wheel to wheel with Allen on lap 8, but Allen held off his charges despite the flat. As the crossed flags flew it was Allen, Egbert, Kettemen, Hardy Henderson and Allan Essenburg in the top five. Allen and Egbert were again side by side with Egbert securing the top spot on lap 11, as Allen's tire broke completely loose from the wheel. Henderson was also able to get by the ailing car of Allen for second. Lap 13 saw Essenburg tap Ketteman, who spun to the infield, then pulled out on track and stopped to bring out the yellow. During the yellow Allen pitted from third to reshoe his mount and rejoined to the pack at the tail.On the restart Essenburg got around Henderson for second and quickly hunted down Egbert. Essenburg was all over Egbert's bumper with 5 to go, as he tried to get the top spot. On the final lap the duo ran door to door down the backstretch, but IMCA Rookie of the Year contender, Egbert held him off to put his Big Tex Autoplex/Phils Paint and Body/Cooper and Bright Plumbing/Texas Towing/Snyders Salvage/Zip Car Wash/Excaliber Chassis into victory lane. 707 PJ Egbert 11 Allan Essenburg 63 Hardy Henderson 9 Pat McGuire 2 Chris Renegar 71 Glen Derks 7 JD Schlies 68 Glen Allen 37 Ben Ketteman 52 Ken Old 247 Joey Craig 3b John Blann 27 Danny Gribble 76 Omer Lingo 1 Keith White 70 George Egbert--DNS In the IMCA Stock 15 lap main, 16 cars started with Justin McGehee and Richard Riley on the front row.
