Championship Weekend Night 1 Double Points

The South Texas Race Ranch regular season is nearing completion with a few points battles very tight. Double points tonight for the regular classes could seriously alter those competing for championships heading into tomorrow evening's conclusion. Micro Mods, EMod, Pure Stock, IMCA Modified, Factory Stocks and Limited Modifieds along with the Texas Dirt Truck Series are in attendance tonight. Everyone will be looking for momentum whether in Championship runs or in the end of season, big money races that will be held around the state.

All Results are Unofficial and commentary is based on my observations from the stands and I have no contact with track officials during the event.

No surprise as Perez takes off from the pole, Parks trying to stay within reach but has C. Harding on his bumper. Lindsey up to 4th from last, Six rounds out top 5

Whiteaker with a great start puts an early lead. About a 7 car battle for 2nd but early caution as Jackson spi s and stalls in 2. Showing Whiteaker, Johnson, Freeman, Preston and Calhoun as top 5 early.

Johnson and Preston come together in 2 on restart and hard contact in 1 behind them. Thompson,  Sheffield, and Voelschow involved. Johnson to the rear, Whiteaker, Freeman, Preston, Calhoun and Waddups top 5 on restart.

Freeman on Whiteaker's bumper and looks low, Preston right behind them. Freeman bobbles and Preston takes 2nd. Caution out as Porter rolls to a stop in 3. Whiteaker, Preston, Freeman, Calhoun and Waddups top 5 on restart.

Calhoun spins in one on restart but keeps it rolling. Whiteaker caught Preston sleeping on the restart but Preston gets under Whiteaker and they take the crossed flags in a dead dead heat then the following lap gets dumped by Freeman, Preston gets it refired and will get 2nd back. Whiteaker, Preston, Waddups, Titzman, and Witzsche  top 5 just past the midpoint.
