30th Annual Lakefest @ Lake Marble Falls 6/10-11/23

By JM Hallas

Marble Falls, TX., (June 11th, 2023) Heat and repeat!

Sunday's elimination day started off looking like the two Top Fuel Hydros would open the festivities with runs. Yet again, wind and choppy waters put a stop to that idea as all Kebin Kinsley did was blip the throttle. Now what to do? Officials got together and with main problem area being around the top end, cut the races to 660'(1/8 mile) in the name of safety.

So, on top of set up changes for hotter/humid morning weather, the index and dial in numbers would all be different. I'm not even going to try to understand the calculation used on the index classes, but it appeared to work out alright. Oddly enough as the day progressed the wind subsided and conditions improved, but there was no turning back the numbers once eliminations had started.

With improving conditions the Top Fuel Hydros got to make a pass mid-afternoon. Though timed only to the 660, both ran 'em out the back door.

Robbins used the starting line advantage for over a tenth and held off a charging Kinsley to take the holeshot victory.
