Day Texas Super Sunday Series set for 12-race run

> VINTON, Iowa (Jan 20) – A dozen events comprise the fifth annual Day Motorsports Texas Super Sunday Series schedule.

> Both the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modifieds and Stock Cars are on the program at each race this season. Each track has decided their own starting time and, unlike previous series that concluded in August or September, the 2003 version will be completed in mid-July.

> Opening night is Feb. 23 at Abilene Speedway, with events following at Thunderbird Speedway in Crandall, Texas Thunder Speedway in Killeen, Thunder Mountain Speedway in Rusk, Boyd Raceway, Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, 281 Speedway in Stephenville, Lubbock Motor Speedway, Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Kennedale Speedway Park, Cardinal Motor Speedway in Eunice, N.M., and Grayson County Speedway in Bells.

> “The car counts and the caliber of competition in the Super Sunday Series continue to go up every year. Winning one of these races is a great accomplishment for any driver,” I.M.C.A. Vice President of Operations Brett Root said. “The addition of the Stock Cars to the series in 2001 and the number of drivers participating in both classes has made this one of the best followed tours in the country.”

> Drivers’ eight best finishes will be used to determine point standings in each division. The Modified champion earns $2,000 and the Stock Car champion $1,000. Point fund details and sponsorships have not been finalized so no total point fund amount for either division has been determined.

> Modifieds will race for $600 to win and $100 to start each night. Stock Car features will pay $300 to win and $50 to start.

> National, regional and state points will be given for both divisions at each event.

> Defending champions are Max Eddie Thomas of Quinlan in the Modifieds and Jeff Turner in the Stocks.
