Daniels Captures Sport Modified Mayhem Honors at DCRP with Cranston, Gemmill & Sellard in Victory Lane as Well

(August 19, 2017) – After finishing just one position short last year, Colby, Kansas racer Dustin Daniels reached the top step of the podium in Saturday night’s 25-lap Fourth Annual Sport Modified Mayhem event that headlined Richmond Gear Night atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.

While Daniels bested the IMCA Sport Modified ranks for a $1,000 payday, other Richmond Gear Night winners included Luke Cranston in Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, Brendon Gemmill in IMCA Modifieds and Reagan Sellard in IMCA Hobby Stocks.

In the Fourth Annual Sport Modified Mayhem event, Daniels turned the tables on Kaleb Roach after the latter beat him to the stripe in last year’s edition of Mayhem.

Roach had a front row starting position in his bid for a second consecutive event win, but Daniels denied him by rallying from eighth to take the victory.  Roach settled for runner-up honors with Ronnie Hults racing from ninth to third.  Current track points leader Jeff Kaup was fourth with Blaine Walt rallying from 18^th to round out the top five.

The string of consecutive different winners in Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars was extended to eight as 2015 track champion Luke Cranston posted his first triumph of the year.

Cranston cashed in on a front row starting position to take the win ahead of Ray Seemann with defending track champ Taylor Velasquez, Tyler Knight and Kris Moore rounding out the top five.

The IMCA Modifieds featured an eighth different consecutive winner as well with Ponca City, OK, native Brendon Gemmill landing his first DCRP win of the season.

The past track champion rallied from eighth on the top side of the track to post his first DCRP win since July of 2016, taking the checkered flag ahead of current track points leader Clay Sellard with Kale Beavers, Kevin Gray and William Nusser in the top five.

Bucklin’s Reagan Sellard added his third IMCA Hobby Stock feature win of the year and second in a row by racing to the stripe ahead of Tyler Walker with Bryan Habiger, Matt O’Hair and Duane Wahrman next across the line.

Daniels and Sellard both pocketed an additional $200 certificate from Richmond Gear to go along with their winnings.

Regular season action at Dodge City Raceway Park wraps up on Saturday night, September 16, with the Fifth Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event featuring Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
