rebelracewriter
The IMCA Stock car field was pared down to the top 24 qualifiers out of the 73 cars signed in. Tim Pyle and JW Johnson paced the field to green, with the duo staying locked together on lao one. Pyle got the lead on lap two, but Duain Pritchett and Kevin Sustaire were quickly moving up from their fourth and fifth row starts. Pritchett and Sustaire both used the high line to move up to fourth and fifth. Pritchett got along side Johnson on lap 5 for third, as the top six settled into single file. Ty Bailey brought out the yellow on lap 7 with a spin. Pritchett again used the high groove on the restart,to pull along side Brian Bishnow for second, while Sustaire and Travis Evans battled for fifth. Lap 9 saw Pyle and Pritchett wheel to wheel for the lead, with Pritchett getting the slight advantage. Caution flew again just at halfway, when Brandon Ellison spun causing the pack to scatter, with Philip Houston getting punted and spun in the stack up. The top five spots were held by Pritchett, Pyle, Evans, Bishnow and Sustaire as the race went back to green. Pritchett jumped way out, as Bishnow and Sustaire got by Evans for third and fourth. Lap 13 saw Sustaire and Bishnow side by side third. The next lap Sustaire moved along side Pyle for second, as Pritchett continued to add to his lead. The final yellow came out on lap 16 when Mark Mohon and Ellison got together in turn four. On the Restart Sustaire hung on to Pritchett's bumper, literally, as gave the leader a few taps. In the final lap Sustaire tried one shot low but unable to get around as Pritchett in his Arty Paint & Body/Southwest Engines/Oasis Bar & Grill/Adavantage Race Car grabbed the victory. 221 Duain Pritchett 87 Kevin Sustaire 4 Travis Evans 34 Tim Pyle 125 Brian Bishnow 021 Jason Gore 07 JW Johnson 144 Jeff Turner 33 Rafe Williams 8 Tommy Davis Sr 99 Jeff Crane 13 Shannon Parsons 170 Trevor Egbert 18 Dustin Locke 54 Dan Day 90 Brandon Ellison 51 Ty Bailey 71 Philip Houston 27 Michael Wofford 19 Michael Sheen 211 Mark Mohon 69 Raymond King 92 Steve DeGrote 14 Michael Yancey 24 of the 31 IMCA Hobby Stocks started the A-main with Joey Patterson and the only Ford in the field, Alvin Emery on row one. They stayed side by side on lap one, with three and four battles in the pack. Patterson secured the lead on lap two, but Randell Jones moved along side on lap 4. The next two laps the duo stayed door to door, until caution slowed the action on lap 6, when Kelly Brown stopped on track. Jones led the field back to green and got a good restart, only to have caution fly again for Charles Garza and Buddy Baker, who got together and spun. On the restart, Chris Meyers got inside Patterson for second, and quickly closed on the leader at halfway. The top five at the mid point were Jones, Meyers, Paul Martin, Patterson and Frank Lackey. Meyers grabbed the point from Jones on lap 12, as Patterson then spun to bring out the final yellow. Jones tried the outside on the restart but was unable to get the lead back. Jerry West moved around Martin for third on lap 14, but Martin was able to get the spot back on lap 18. Meyers(N.Mex.) was able to grab the checkers in his JR Motorsports/AMSOIL/B & H/Chevy, but lose his motor to a claim.
