Bobby and I have reached a time in life when we are not able to run the Saturday night race events. We can still take care of the facility, run concessions and be a part of maintaining the grounds. In July the Stacy family announced at a drivers meeting that Keith would not be available in 2017 to run Saturday night races. We let you know then that we would be looking to lease the track for the 2017 season. We have met with two interested parties since that time, both have decided they could not devote the time needed to run the events. At Halloween Havoc we had another person at the track that was interested. He was not a racer and really did not know what takes place on a race night. On Tuesday he let us know he did not feel he is the right person. Once again, we are looking for someone or group of people interested in keeping Shady Oaks Speedway open in 2017. If interested please call 361-218-0092 to set a time to meet. When you end a season with an event like Halloween Havoc and you see all the kids, fans and drivers come to participate it makes it really hard to think that this may be the last event at Shady Oaks Speedway. With the right promoter and the love of racing we know Shady Oaks can still be a great place to be on Saturday nights. The potential for the place to become a true showplace is there, all it takes is the right person to see the posibilities. Thanks to the Stacys for all their hard work and dedication to keep SOS alive and well over the past few years. I'm sure they will stay involved with whoever ends up with the lease.
