McAninch Survives for NCRA Modified Feature Victory!

Park City, Kansas – October 8, 2016 - Ryan McAninch survived repeated challenges by series point leader Dan Powers and a night full of cautions to claim his second National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified feature of the season Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Park City.

Kirby Robe and Powers started on the front row for the thirty lap feature with Powers jumping out into the lead as the green flag fell on the twenty-seven car starting field.

Cautions plagued the feature with Powers up to the task on each restart, holding off repeated challenges by third starting McAninch. Powers, looking for a three-peat series championship, led the first seventeen laps before McAninch drove underneath down the backstretch on lap eighteen to take the lead.

Eleventh starting and “B” feature winner Brian Franz would pass Powers for the runner-up position with four laps to go but by this time McAninch, who had entered constant lapped traffic with five laps to go, had opened up a comfortable distance and went on to claim the five car length victory.

Franz held off a persistent challenge from Powers to finish second while Robe settled for fourth. After getting caught in an accident back on lap six, Jason McGehee worked his way through the field to finish fifth while current series point leader Scott Green came home sixth.

Green will go into the season finale at Salina Speedway in Salina, Kansas on October 8, with a slim 25-point lead while Franz is still within striking distance, just 155-points behind.

The four, ten lap heat races for the thirty car field were won by Powers, McAninch, rookie contender Kyler Kemp and Johnny Cammon. Clint McFadden took home “C” feature honors while Franz led wire-to-wire the ten lap “B” feature.
