Campbell Makes in Two-in-a-Row in NCRA Sprint Action!

Park City, Kansas – October 8, 2016 - Jeremy Campbell took advantage of John Carney II misfortune to claim his second National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products 360-ci sprint car feature win in a row Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Park City.

Danny Wood and Carney started on the front row for the twenty-five lap feature with Wood setting the early pace on the sixteen car starting field. The Norman, Oklahoma veteran and newly crowned Hutchinson Grand Nationals champion quickly opened a ten car field over Carney, third starting Campbell and Don Droud, Jr. by lap three when things went quickly flat for Wood as he would cost to a stop at the top of turn four with a flat right rear tire. He would be able to replace the right rear and restart at the tail of the field.

This would give Carney the lead and the driver of the Scott Brown owned/Lubbock Wrecker #11x would quickly open a half stretch lead over Campbell by lap five. Meanwhile, sixth starting Matt Covington passed Droud for third before the second caution flag waved for a Jay Russell spin at the bottom of turn two.

Carney again paced the field on the restart, with his preferred line down one in turns one and two and up top in three and four while Campbell found success up top all the way around the three-eighths mile oval. Lap eight saw

Campbell get close enough to attempt a slide job entering turns three and four, only to find Carney duck down low and out run the former two-time series champion down the front stretch and hold on to the lead.

The leaders first crack at the slower cars came on lap thirteen with Carney working lapped traffic perfectly, maintaining his six car length lead. His lead would grow to ten on lap eighteen before his bid for a second series career win ended on lap twenty when he would slow to a stop on the backstretch, ending his night.

Campbell would inherit the lead and go unchallenged the final five laps to claim his second straight tour victory in a row and put himself just 150-points out of the point lead heading into the series season finale on Saturday night, October 22, at Salina Speedway in Salina, Kansas.

Covington came home a strong second while seventh starting Luke Cranston came home third. Current point leader Doud came home fourth to maintain a fifteen-point lead in the standings (over C.J. Johnson) while Wood came back from his lap three flat right rear to round out the top five.

The two, ten lap heat races for the seventeen car field were won by Wood and Carney.
