Besides racing the way it should be, lots for fans to do at 2016 Featherlite Fall Jamboree

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Sept. 16) -- Sure, you're going to see some incredible racing when the 18th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree gets underway at the Deer Creek Speedway next Thursday, Sept. 22, but the good times don't end at the checkered flag.

Early bird race fans can get a free preview of the action, and drivers will get their chance to make final adjustments to their machines with an open practice from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

On Thursday, fans are invited to the pit area to hang out with drivers and crews for a live DJ and karaoke under the tent following the races.

On Friday, the annual Club Car Jamboree Open golf tournament for racers, crew members, event officials and fans will tee off at 10 a.m. at the Root River Country Club in Spring Valley. Sign-in is from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the golf course.

The top three teams will score cash prizes and many other awesome prizes will also be awarded. There will be hole-in-one and longest putt contests too.

As in the past, the format for this year's outing will be a four-person best-ball contest with a Texas-style shotgun start. Entry is $40 per person and covers nine holes of golf with cart, cash awards, prizes and a hearty meal.

Slots still remain but space is limited to 80 players. To enter, call the USMTS office at (515) 832-7944 or Deer Creek Speedway at (507) 754-6107. You can also sign up at the USMTS souvenir trailer behind the Deer Creek Speedway grandstands while space remains.

Back by popular demand for the sixth straight year, Red Tail Tackle presents The Dweebs as they will be rocking the Deer Creek Speedway Friday night under the big top immediately following the final race of the night.

Family owned and operated since 1987, America's Favorite Party Band will be playing live after the races on Friday night, and all ages are welcome. The show is free for all race attendees.

The Dweebs are a one-of-a-kind family rock band based in Wisconsin and traveling throughout the United States. Their live concerts offer the entertainment experience of a lifetime. Enjoy the classic hits of legends such as Johnny Cash and The Beatles to modern hits by Pink, Katy Perry and others.

The Dweebs provide a fun memorable performance full of stage antics, crowd participation, mock rock icons, confetti, flying toilet paper and more.

To learn more about The Dweebs, check out www.thedweebs.com online, like them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/thedweebs and follow them on Twitter at www.twitter.com/thedweebs (@thedweebs).

The fun doesn't end there.

Saturday morning will feature the first-ever Fall Jamboree Human Foosball Tournament. Sign-up begins at 9:30 a.m. and the tournament begins at 10 a.m.

In addition to the tournament, the human foosball arena will be set up all weekend for fans to enjoy.

Shortly thereafter, the bragging rights for this year's Bean Bag Tournament near the campground area begins with sign-in at 12:30 p.m. and the battle begins at 1 p.m.

For early risers with a hankering for a delicious hot breakfast, the Bear Creek Lutheran Church will be back again this year serving up breakfast in the beer garden on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 8-11 a.m.

Special thanks to Red Tail Tackle (Randy and Patti Eastvold) for sponsoring the fireworks and The Dweebs concert this year.

On the track, Modified drivers will be racing for $5,000 to win the first two nights and a $10,000 paycheck on Saturday. Fans will witness a complete program all three nights featuring USMTS/USRA Modifieds and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods.

The annual Non-Qualifiers Race will dole out $2,000 to the winner prior to Saturday's championship race which will start a minimum of 30 cars three-wide while the Non-Qualifiers Race will also have 30 cars on the track.

Friday and Saturday's shows will be co-sanctioned by the United States Racing Association with valuable USRA national points on the line. The Iron Man Series featuring Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will share the spotlight all three nights.

There will be a complete show each night. The top 15 in heat race passing points are locked into "A" Main each night with the top 8 redrawing for the first eight starting positions. An additional 15 drivers will advance from the "B" Mains.

On Saturday, the top 30 finishers in the Modified "B" Mains not advancing to the "A" Main will compete in the Non-Qualifiers Race with a complete redraw for starting spots.

Anticipation, entry list swells for 18th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Sept. 14) -- The 18th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree gets underway one week from today at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., where Modified drivers will be racing for $5,000 to win the first two nights and a $10,000 paycheck on Saturday.

Set for Thursday-Sunday, Sept. 22-24, fans will witness a complete program all three nights. On Thursday, the United States Modified Touring Series competes in the final points race of the year with the final event in the Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental and the crowning of the 2016 USMTS National Champion.

If witnessing the best-of-the-best and who's-who of dirt modified racing circling the high-banked Deer Creek Speedway clay oval at nearly 100 mph, this event is for you.

Early bird race fans can get a free preview of the action and drivers will get their chance to make final adjustments to their machines with an open practice from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Defending USMTS national champion Jason Hughes leads Cade Dillard by a mere 10 points entering the finale for the Hunt on Thursday while two-time USMTS national champ Rodney Sanders is 49 markers out of first place with an outside chance of scoring his third USMTS crown.

Last year, Hughes came into the Featherlite Fall Jamboree in a dead heat with Sanders for the title and wound up sweeping all three nights of event.
