RodneyRodriguez Posted April 5, 2016 Report Share Posted April 5, 2016 The 2016 Dwarf Car Racing season will see five dates on the dirt at South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi, Texas. Saturday night was the first stop at STS and if that was any indication of what is to come these races will be can't miss events. Sixteen cars signed in for the event and the even playing field was evident as the cars and stars took to the ¼ mile oval that has been widened for the new season. In the main event Kevin Hubbard (8) was the early leader along with Ty Paxson (15) and then eventually 2015 DCRST champion Rusty Young (88). As Young paced the field the action was fast with many drivers slipping and sliding around and avoiding accidents. Paxon and Dwain Groff (18/14) were involved in a spectacular shunt on the frontstretch and incredibly showing the durability of these wickedly fast machines both drivers continued once the two cars were pried apart. Young held on to win another main event staying undefeated in main events on the new season. Paxson rallied back to finish runner up followed by Chase Havely (31) who in 2016 will campaign in dirt events. Ryan Stoy (20) and Drew Simental (37) rounded out the tight top 5. Dylan Budnik (25), Chris Silvas (85), Butch Havelka (27), Dillon Coyne (12) and Groff rounded out the top 10. Havely, Rodney Rodriguez (4) and Simental were heat race winners. After all of the mud slingin' the Wild Side Tour will take a week off before getting down and dirty again on April 16th at STS followed the next week with trip back to the blacktop at Central Texas Speedway on April 23rd. DCRST is in the process of finalizing a new agreement that will begin in the with the current race season as soon as details are finalized the DCRST PR department will send a formal release with details.
