MIR Bracket Title Battle Tight

Much is on the line in final points race of the month begins

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (May 15) - Bragging rights will be on the line this weekend at the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams at Memphis International Raceway, because the points leaders at the end the Saturday, May 16 event will stay that way for a while.

Saturday's race the last before the regular weekly series program

races again on Sunday June 7, which was recently added to the MIR schedule as another spring make-up date.

"A lot of our classes are pretty close after the Pro-Am," said MIR Drag Strip Operations Director Paul Cartwright. "A good day Saturday can be the launching pad for some of our special event bracket races during the summer."

One of the closest contests out there right now is in Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro. Michael Hall is holding on to a nine point lead over Shane Stout. The battle for third is also tight with Leigh Hubbard holding an eight point edge over Jeff Bobo and a 20 point margin over Rusty Ashmore.

In B&B Towing Footbrake, John Castellaw III has stretched out his lead on the strength of two runner-up finishes in the past three weeks. Castellaw has a 60 point lead over second place T.J. Tracey. Caffey Broadus is 22 points behind Tracey.

Billy Foster Sr. has two cars in the top four of R.T. Turbines DOT Street. He's the class leader with 387 points with his first entry. He's got a 54 point margin over second place Cliff Hubbard, a 74 point edge over David Elam in third and a 137 point advantage over himself to round out the top four.

Nothing much changed last week in R.T. Turbines Junior Dragster Tyler Poindexter still leads his brother Justin by 23 points with Drew Tracey in third place and Brianna Moore in fourth.

This weekend's race also include the 6.0 and 7.0 classes. Gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday with time trials beginning at 5 p.m.
