Start Memorial Day Weekend at MIR

 

Family fun, food scheduled at track's Grill N Thrill event

 

 

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (May 16) - Memphis International Raceway (MIR) is giving race fans a family friendly way of kick off Memorial Day Weekend with a special event on Saturday, May 23, Grill N Thrill.

 

 

 

 

Grill N Thrill will be an open track day at the drag strip with a whole lot more. Every admission will include cookout with a free King Cotton Quarter-Mile dog, chips and a sweet tea or lemonade to drink. Along with the

 

 

racing on the track, an area will be set up for kids that will include a tricycle drag race, a figure eight course and other games.

 

 

 

"We have plenty of opportunities for our racers to unleash their

 

competitive side," said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. "Our Grill N Thrill day is a chance for folks to have a day at the track that is focused on fun for everyone. We love for people to come out, enjoy our hospitality and have a day where they do what they love with the people they love."

 

 

 

In addition, to honor America's service men and women all active duty military will receive half price admission.

 

 

 

"We do want to have fun this weekend, but we also want to recognize the sacrifices made every day by our country's military personnel around the world," Kendrick said. "Recognizing them at this event seemed like the natural thing to do."

 

 

 

Gates for Grill N Thrill open at 6:30 p.m. with the track open for runs between 7-11 p.m. Racer admission is $20, crew and spectators are $10 and children 12 and under are free.
