Spencer Gallagher Soldiers Home to a 17th-Place Finish in Kansas

Event: NCWTS 250

Date: May 8, 2015
Venue: Kansas Speedway
Start 14th
Finish 17th
Laps Led 0

Spencer Gallagher, driver of the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet, endured a challenging night at Kansas Speedway and salvaged a 17th-place finish. A spin just shy of the halfway mark, combined with a miss in the engine relegated the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender to an unceremonious result.

Gallagher and crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz fought a loose condition from the drop of the green flag in traffic. The Las Vegas native raced inside the top 10 until the evenings second caution at lap 40. After wedge, air pressure, and spring rubber adjustments, Gallagher was unable to find a neutral balance on his Silverado. Just prior to the halfway point on lap 67, Gallagher saved his Chevrolet from major damage in an incident, but lost a lap to the race leaders. Shortly thereafter, a miss in the engine hampered a possible comeback through the field and ultimately finished in the 17th position, four laps behind race winner Matt Crafton.

Heading to Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway and race No. five on the 2015 season, Gallagher sits 10th in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points.

SPENCER GALLAGHER QUOTE:

"We had a pretty big balance swing with our Allegiant Travel Chevrolet when we got in traffic versus what we saw in practice. We started picking up a real twitchy loose condition. Jeff (Stankiewicz) and our GMS Racing team tried fixing it with spring rubber adjustments, but that didnt agree with our front suspension package. These guys worked so hard, but we couldnt seem to get enough consistency in the balance on corner entry, and it made for a difficult night. After our motor issue, we just had to ride it out from there. Weve learned a lot here tonight. This is racing, and well have a better package for next week at Charlotte.
