Consistency wins day for Rogers

Victory in MIR's Summit Bracket Racing Series not easy to get

 

 

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (April 6, 2015) - Daniel Rogers had a feeling it was going to be a good night right from the start of time trials.

Raceway (MIR). A lot of the time he's tweaking the index on his truck throughout a race, on Saturday night, Rogers' car was dialed-in from the start and he rode that consistency all the way to a victory over Josh James.

 

 

 

"This place always has stout competition," Rogers said. "It's a big tire truck so it's pretty much, dead-on. That puts everything on me. It has been on the money all night."

 

Rogers was about as good as it gets in the final against James. Rogers was off the line in .060 seconds and made it to the finish in 6.902 seconds at 98.98 mph on a 6.86 index. James was a little too quick and broke out in the final, running a 7.032 second pass at 94.06 mph on a 7.05 dial-in.

 

 

 

"We had a good run tonight," James said. "We made some good passes. We were lucky. I only changed the dial-in one time all night. Everything ran good."

 

 

 

Tyler Poindexter won his second R.T. Turbines Junior Dragster race in a row, this week it was against Drew Tracey in the final. Poindexter cut a .009 light before crossing the finish line in 8.011 seconds at 79.33 mph. Tracy broke out with an 8.460 at 77.34 mph on an 8.52 index.

 

 

 

Devan Lowe won the R.T. Turbines Junior Dragster Second Chance Race with a pass of 8.200 at 78.26 mph on an 8.18 dial over Sophie Newberry, who broke out with a 9.029 at 71.08 on a 9.21 index.

 

 

 

Jeff Bobo and his dragster conquered a field of 36 cars in Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro. His pass of 4.646 at 144.57 mph on a 4.64 index was enough to get past Kenny Pease, who ran a 5.750 at 118.70 on a 5.74 dial-in.

 

 

 

In R.T. Turbines DOT Street, Tooth Malone came out on top of David Elam in the final. Malone made a pass of 17.096 seconds at 70.01 mph (16.97 index) was enough get past Elam's 11.551 at 109.63 mph on a 11.30 index.

 

 

 

Tim Kulhman won the 7.0 Heads-Up class with a pass of 7.045 seconds at 94.91 mph against Woody Prievett's breakout run of 6.986 at 96.49 mph.

 

Caffey Broadus won the 6.0 Heads-Up race when opponent Alan Henson left the line .007 seconds too early. That made Broadus' breakout

 

pass of 5.999 at 114.69 mph a victory lap.

 

 

 

Brothers Brad and J.R. Barclay reached the finals of Top ET, but decided to split the winnings instead of running the final.

 

 

 

The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams will resume on Saturday, April 25 with a doubleheader race that will also feature the first appearance of the Stock/SS Combo race class this season.
