Double-up bonus this weekend at MIR

A $200 bonus on the line at Summit Bracket Racing Series

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (April 3) -- With the next round of the Summit Racing Series presented by COMP Cams coming up on Saturday, Memphis International Raceway (MIR) is offering a bonus to the driver

who can win a bracket class and the quarter-mile Top ET class.

MIR is offering a $200 R.T. Turbines Double-up Bonus to the driver who can pull the feat off.

"We think it's a nice challenge for our racers," said MIR Director

of Drag Strip Operations Paul Cartwright. "Top ET is a new class we've put in to help bring in racers who prefer running the full 1,320 feet, but since we're also encouraging drivers to enter Top ET as a second class, we thought we'd sweeten the pot for the driver who can win multiple classes."

There must be a minimum of 10 cars in Top ET for the bonus to be paid out. However if 25 cars enter the race, not only with the double-up bonus be in play, but the payout for the class will grow to $1,000 to the winner and $500 to the runner-up.

With his win last time out, Cliff Hubbard closed the points gap on leader Billy Foster Sr. in DOT Street. Only nine points separate the two drivers with David Elam third, 43 points behind the second-place Hubbard.

R.T. Turbines Junior Dragster continues to be a battle of the brothers with Justin Poindexter and Tyler Poindexter fighting it out for the lead in that class. Justin has a 20 point lead on his brother wit

h Tara Taylor in third place.

B&B Towing Footbrake is currently a battle between leader John Castellaw III and second place Caffey Broadus who are only 10 points apart. This class also features a three-way fight for third with only 10 points separating Kenny Bomar, T.J. Tracey and Billy Foster, Sr.

Rusty Ashmore is maintaining a 20 point lead over Leigh Hubbard in Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro. Shane Stout is in third.

This week's Summit Bracket Series presented by COMP Cams event will also feature 6.0 and 7.0 racing as well.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with time trials starting at 5 p.m. Spectator admission is $10 and children 12 and under are free.
