ASCS Gulf South and Lone Star Square Off in Waco and Mesquite

TULSA, Okla. (August 12, 2014) - Texas based regions of the American Sprint Car Series will meet this weekend to determine who holds bragging rights over the "Lone Star State" with the Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf South and Smiley's Racing Products Lone Star Regions squaring off at the Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco on Friday, August 15 and the Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite on Saturday, August 16.

In the series showdown in 2013, it was a draw between the regions with Blake Hahn winning at the Heart O' Texas and Sam Hafertepe, Jr. at the Devil's Bowl. Channin Tankersley leads the charge for the Gulf South Region into the weekend showdown with Patrick Stasa atop the points for the Smiley's Racing Products Lone Star Region.

Friday, August 15 at the Heart O' Texas Speedway kicks off at 8:00 P.M. (CT). The undercard includes IMCA Modifieds, Sport Mods, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Bombers, Jr. Sprints, Twister, and Outlaw Twisters. Adult tickets are $15.00 with discounts for kids at the gate. The third visit of the season for the Gulf South Region to the Waco, Texas based oval, Blake Hahn gabbed the win on April 18, followed by Sam Hafertepe, Jr. on June 6.

Saturday, August 16 at the Devil's Bowl Speedway gets underway at 8:30 P.M. (CT) with RACEsaver Sprint Cars, Limited Modifieds, Modifieds, and Factory Stocks joining the night's program. Tickets are $20 for adults with discounts for Seniors and Children. Kids 12 years and younger get into the grandstands free of charge. The fifth visit of the season to the Devil's Bowl for the Lone Star Region, four winners have emerged with Tony Bruce, Jr. (3/21), Patrick Stasa (3/29), Sam Hafertepe, Jr. (5/15), and Seth Bergman (6/14).
