StacyRacing
I need feed back from the Modified Drivers, please. I need to know if the brand of tires makes a difference to anyone planning on running Modifieds @ SOS this year. American Racer KK704 vs Hoosier G60. SOS does not receive a royalty check from any tire manufacturer so it does not make a difference to me. I am planning on getting rules posted this weekend and want to make sure I have this accounted for. If noone says anything I will make the decision myself. Thanks, Keith
sm44
I own both So to me it doesn't matter. But to most imca guys it will matter a lot. If you allow the 704 you will eliminate 80% of the imca cars, myself included last year. The rules have been stated earlier so why is it a question now? This too will keep cars away in my opinion. I look forward to a couple trips down though. Joe Mod
top_shelf_12
Are they equal as far as quality and dependability and cost? If they're similar, why not allow both?
sm44
They are the same cost but the 704 is softer and far superior. A car on g60s would be at a disadvantage.
StacyRacing
It was just a question to solicit feed back for my info and knowledge. The rules as stated earlier are still what I am standing by. If the compounds and characteristics were similar, I was looking at making the 704 an option. top_shelf_12
I was just asking a question too not knowing much about either tire. I've seen in some other rules packages that both are allowed. I wish the best for SOS and think we'll be up a few times this season, always liked the scenery around the track. gone with the win
I have to back up what joe is saying. I have both sets of tires too and the Hoosier has much less grip. If SOS allows both brands i think it was hurt the car count. also if the rules start alloying grooving tires will cause the imca cars to stop showing up. cagle69motorsports
Keith there is a big difference.....KK704 needs to be left alone based on the Rules package you and I discussed buddy.....Your call but there is definitely a huge difference between the 2 especially on a tacky hammer down track like yours.... BobbyJack
I have run the kk704 and hoosier g60 on streetstocks and I thought the hoosier was softer and wore out quicker than the kk704. the kk 704 had more tread and could be grooved more. jmo I know streetstocks and mods are not the same. gone with the win
Keith, have you figured out the dates for the first few modified races?
StacyRacing
I have decided that I will stick with the IMCA rules about tires. The Hoosier g60 is the tire. Thanks for the feed back by LSSZ, email and telephone. Keith
